settings menu low fps
decided to reinstall RDR2, opened settings menu to config before playing, to learn that the menu fades in at a CRAWL. the game runs fine at the main menu, so i don't know what's gone wrong to have the settings menu take a massive performance hit.

CPU is an intel i7-12700H
GPU is a GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop

And actual in-game performance?

You sure the game is running on the NVIDIA GPU?
Have you even checked this?

only through benchmark tests, running at roughly 10 FPS. haven't had too much of a chance to properly check this, seeing as it's near-impossible for me to tweak the settings properly.

in terms of GPU, i have changed the output adapter and there was no noticeable difference.

StartMenu > type Graphics Settings and click on that. Browse and add PlayRDR2.exe and RDR2.exe to the listing and change options for both to High Performance GPU

Then launch RDR2 and see how it is now

alright, tried all this and unfortunately the settings menu is still at a crawl, but very slightly faster than earlier

also learned that the graphics settings have no effect on the lag in the settings menu itself, so that narrows things down a bit

Not sure what to say or suggest then. Every Desktop or Laptop I've tested this game on the menu ran at 60-120 FPS at all times. Didn't have any lagging.

Do you have Windows Game Mode on?
Try turning that off.
