1920x1080 on high settings for the RTX 2060 (non-super edition)
2560x1440 - high settings with a RTX 2070 super
3840x2160 - medium to high settings with a RTX 2080ti
To get 60fps with RDR2.
They also recommend 16GB of ram for the 2060 super (isn't in the link below)

All depends on the resolution and settings you are trying to run the game with.
Dude i should be able to run this game on stable 90 fps on 1080p HUB settings... i know what the recommended settings are OBVIOUSLY.
Those that suggest a fix you return nothing but your feelings on what you think you should be getting..
Good luck!
Yeah, and that something wrong with the game is all on you.
Tone those settings down or live with that 40fps in towns.
All there is to it.
Yep, sure did.
Been building machines likely longer than you have been on earth.
Suit yourself & have fun at 40fps

Maybe disable async computing, it sacrifices some fps for frametime smoothness. Also monitor your clocks and temperatures as in video above. It may have something to do with CPU or GPU overheating and throttling.
FullHD and maximum settings are not exactly equal.
especially when it comes to Rockstars engine that can make a 4090 cry,
just due to vram limitations.
And btw, the town of Valentine is pretty mild compared with saint denis.
Though many have complained about frame rates in Valentine as well.
And it's normally just a matter of lowering settings (and still being FullHD)
Crazy thought,
But is anyone in disagreement with what Nvidia had to say about the matter with RDR2 and the 20 series cards? Why yes they are, rather foolish though.
To bad that the 2060's don't support SLI.
As that would be a simple solution for a 2070 & up. (assuming you could find another)
Yes, RDR2 and GTA V both support SLI extremely well.
What the actual?
There are some really special people on these forums.
I know that was pretty much my bad but at the moment i was very annoyed that the guy was telling me to like lower down my settings, which absolutely makes no sense because this game should be a breeze on my PC; I'm currently running HUB (hardware unboxed) settings on 1080p with DLSS quality, out of towns its very smooth constant 90+ fps but when im in towns such as valentine or strawberry it drops to low 40s maybe even mid 30s which SHOULD NOT happen as i watched many benchmarks of this game with the same specs.
