Because, if someone can just hack entire mechanics out of the game, that's a very horrible security issue, I changed session 3 times yesterday, but the metal detector still didn't work, I really hope it wasn't because of hackers because that paints a very grim situation of the game currently.
If that's the case, i guess I'll have to search for a way to make the solo session glitch happen.
I'm not sure how you would test it without using a c-map to verify there's actually something buried, or maybe teaming up with another collector. If you're going by something like the Jean Ropke map, it's usually accurate but there's not really a guarantee that it's 100% correct.
Editing the startup.meta file can launch the game in a permanent private session, but if you want a quick way to have a temporary solo sesh, you can go into Change Appearance menu, back out, quickly start up a mission like supply run or bounty, and it won't match you with other players until you go back to free roam.
go to docs/rockstargames/rdr2/profiles/r4nd0m1324adgfg/
delete the file called "player"
it will fix what you are experiencing.
but yeah, the game does have security vulns like you think.
delete that "player" file and it'll fix it.
see ya.
The Metal Detector + Collector Maps is a linked bug and happens basically every time RDO has an update. I just delete the Player file before launching RDR2 when I know I'm going to dive into RDO for a while. It doesn't hurt anything on your end, other then after deleting it you will notice the RDO screen is "generic" and doesn't have the various portals shown in there until after you load up RDO into a session. Then pressing ESC > Online you will see this info and graphics downloaded into your game. Just as the ability to jump to Camp, or a type of MP Event such as Race, Featured Series; etc.
go to docs/rockstargames/rdr2/profiles/r4nd0m1324adgfg/
delete the file called "player"
same bug as op.
If not sure about the Rockstar Launcher, go to the folder that has that Player file, there is a file called CloudSync. Delete this file, then launch RDR2 then the Launcher will ask you if you want to enable cloud sync or not. Click NO
Also ensure that if you use other Cloud Backups such as OneDrive that it is configured by YOU not to backup the Documents or AppData folder structures
