[SOLVED] Softlocked after Archaeology for Beginners

So, after reaching the first mission where you help Rains Fall, I ran into a problem after completing it. Despite having technically finished the mission, it wouldn't actually finish, effectively softlocking the game. Even after closing the game and completing the mission a second time, it still wouldn't end and I would still be softlocked.

I have a theory on why this might be happening - it might be because I used a mod to give myself a heap of items, including the owl feather trinket Rains Fall gives to you at the end of the mission. It seems that already having it prevents you from receiving it a second time and receiving it is the trigger to end the mission.

Now, on my second attempt, I did kill a couple of soldiers during the mission (as this is supposed to prevent you from earning aforementioned trinket) yet I still wound up softlocked afterwards. If killing all of them on a third run doesn't work, is there a way to remove certain items like trinkets from my inventory or just wipe it entirely, mod or otherwise? If not, I'd have to load a save from the beginning of Chapter 2 or start a new game entirely. I'm sure anybody who's played through more than once can understand why that would be a last resort.

Since making this post over a year ago, the issue has been resolved. However, I do not remember how so ask someone else if you're having this issue.

If you've used a mod it will be the cause of all your woes.

You will not receive in game or Steam achievements if you have mods involved.

Make sure your RDR2 folder is vanilla by removing all mods.

Go back to a pre - modded save and play from there.

Wow, real insightful there. If I wanted to play vanilla, I'd just be playing it on my Xbox instead. Give some actual advice or ♥♥♥♥ off.

I imagine there could be a mod that made trinkets vendorable/sellable. Barring that I'd look around for a rdr2 savegame editor and try to modify/remove from inventory that way.

any hint on how you fixed been softlocked for a awhile and have tried everything

You can use a save-game editor for such problems, in order to remove an item from player inventory.
