If you haven't yet, get ready for some crazy answers on google, sometimes the answers work for a handful of people, but I've yet to come across anything yet. Steam say's I've played 25 minutes so far, lol, that's been spent troubleshooting the launcher.
And for those that chime in with, "It always works for me," please look it up. Error code 134 social club linking with steam. It's a known headache.
Come on Rockstar, it's been years and you still have this problem? Funny how I've not had issues with other companies and linking with steam.
I'm getting Error Code 1005 for mine.... Bout to just refund it if I can't get some answers by tomorrow night. :(

And also allowing the social club / launcher programs to bypass your firewall (windows defender by default.)
And good luck, I'm also giving it 24 hours before I refund. Wait for a sale on epic or something.
Yeah, this is my first purchase of a Rockstar game. This just annoys me. I know game companies that have done this in the past, and it's always annoying. It's also likely an issue of not enough people having the problem/purchasing through steam to warrant the time/money to fix it.
Disabling my VPN fixed it. (note that there was no issue when launching social club without steam. I tested this by downloading and installing the Rockstar Launcher to test the social club without steam.
Even though I could connect to the social club without steam, and my firewall was set for split-tunneling allowing steam/rdr2 to bypass, I'm guessing the way my vpn encrypts/routes traffic was causing an issue. Still makes no sense that before disabling my vpn, the Rockstar Social Club can launch and connect without issue. It's only a problem when the Rockstar Social Club launches through Steam.
Why would the social club only fail when launched through steam with the VPN running?
I also noticed that while the Social Club Launcher would launch and connect without issue (when not launching through Steam) when I disabled my VPN and saw the Social Club Launcher start, the first thing it did was update. Is this because the Social Club launcher packaged with the game doesn't get updates?
Who knows, but I'm wondering if anyone else had a similar issue.
I couldn't log in because apparently I had another account linked to Steam
What I did to solve it was write to rockstar support and they asked me for some information and they solved the problem
They gave me the opportunity to link you with a new email
now I can play
