For me it was really slow and not fun. I know a million people are going to hate on me for this but it's my opinion

Gameplay is phenomenal but you need to run the notorious "Rockstar Launcher" gauntlet first...

I've been trying to start RDR2 for DAYS now, with zero luck.................................

You're dealing with one of the WORST gaming companies when it comes to customer support also. You're taking a giant risk getting involved in this mess if you want my honest opinion.

Game felt incredible to me. Lots of exploration with crazy stuff happening as you journey around but it is slow and very story driven.
Chapter 1 is the slowest and then it picks up and gets amazing from there

how does it compare to RDR1? because I played the fricking heck out of that game on xbox 360

shame about there not being an undead nightmare mode.

it's only clunky in certain instances due to the way they made the game detailed.

you're not exactly controlling the character, you're giving them commands and they follow the orders basically.

like pressing forward to walk, the game tells the ai that is your character to walk forward, but it first has to do a check so that the animation is correct or if you're walking into a wall and such.

they did this so that things could be interactive and super detailed, like when telling your character to pick up a can of peaches from a cupboard, and he actually bends down and grabs that exact can you were targeting rather than just playing an animation and trying to fake it.

same thing with horses, at times your horse feels as if it actually has a mind of its own, that's because it does.

it uses path finding to direct the horse, so at times you can end up causing a path error that makes the horse turn in circles multiple times before doing something stupid like falling off a cliff or walking into a tree branch, -

that's because originally when you were pressing forward or whatever direction you were actually placing path nodes for the horse to follow, and if you do so in certain areas it can bug out and cause complications like your horse running head first into a tree instead of going around the tree when you're literally pressing left or right trying to avoid the tree, -

and then since you pressed left and right a bunch before you crashed into the tree; if you didn't fall off, your horse will do a little ring around the rosy with the tree until it actually sorts its path out.

this can often be caused by the predator attacks and such and can lead to the dreaded autosave death, which is where you die from an attack like a cougar and it saves and you lose items that were on your horse.

so yeah, for many it can be considered too clunky because they would much rather be in control of the character rather than having to wait for all the checks the ai has to do, but for those who are familiar with this kind of play style from other games that have used it we generally have no problem because we know the reasons for it and appreciate the details it provides.

I'm inclined to agree with them. I play it because it's a work of art. Art isn't always pleasing or entertaining. Experiences aren't always fun. It's not straight torture, but the game does drag ass.

it really can, and i enjoy this game to the fullest extent.

it honestly doesn't bother me, but for others some parts of the game may piss them off to red face lol

for instance, wapiti.

trying to ride a horse or even just move through wapiti is annoying as all get out because it forces you to the slowest speed in the game.

it doesn't even do it that bad at camp, but if you're trying to be fast about something it can really frustrate you when the fastest you can move is as fast as you can make your horse jump.

That does not answer my question in the slightest.

watch how the character moves on youtube.
theyre animated to carry through on their motions and actions to mimic realism.

its one of the best videogames of 2010-2020.
a good end to that era.

it can be slow and can be tedious if you're expecting "GTA Wild West edition", but if you treat like its an open world adventure game set in the Wild West/Old West youd like, or even love it.

Its one of the best games ever tbh.

You can watch RDR2 gameplay vids on YouTube and decide for yourself if its for you or not.
