restarting story mode
i just started the game and i'm on chapter 3 but i was wondering if it's possible to restart the game. I know it is but i had some questions about it that I can't seem to find a clear answer on. If i restart the game, (first of all, how would i do that) would my progress in my current save be lost or is it saved where i can return to it?

yep its possible, just press escape and you'll find something about story or game, press that and it'll show your saves

before you do that you should play the game all the way through though, just keep that in mind
You can hard reset by hitting new game and it will over write your auto save. You can soft reset by selecting missions from the story screen, i say soft reset because technically you can still keep everything but you get play the story from the beginning if that's your reason for wanting to start over.

You lose out on any open world content you have already done, and after every mission you go back to your save game, so technically its like reliving a memory of the mission than actually having the game continue after the mission is over.

so it really depends on the reason you want to restart? is it a "i haven't played in a while i forgot the plot" issue, or is it "i want to redo some chapter one and two missions"

C:\Users\%your username here%\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Profiles

Folder under that is your saves folder (will be a mix of letters/numbers), copy/rename that folder somewhere else like the desktop for example. Then delete the the folder in the path shown above,

Quick and easy game restart and you'll have a backup of your progress on your current game.
