RDR2 crashing in loading screen
Every time I try loading into the game, a few of the photographs show up, before the game freezes for a couple seconds then crashes. I have tried so many things and none of them work.

Here is a list of things I've tried (that didn't work):
• Restarting computer
• Verifying game files (x3)
• Updating drivers
• Switching from DX12 to Vulkan API (I switch to Vulkan, then reload the game only to find that it's switched back to DX12 again)
• Running game as administrator
• Disabling AMD in-game overlay
• Disabling Steam in-game overlay

Any help that someone could provide would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Is it just that Rockstar's servers are down rn? I can't see that being the case because story doesn't work either.

This has nothing to do with the servers, this issue is already present for half a year now. Rockstar fixes nothing.

For me it does this whenever I have MSI Afterburner open (in the background). Closing MSI Afterburner then launching into the game, then reopening it helps. It kind of does this with any overlay sometimes so tinker with it because your mileage may vary.

How do I fix it then?

Didn't work - any other ideas?

Try turning anything with an overlay off, such as disabling Steam Overlay. Also if you're using OBS, launch OBS AFTER the game loads in (you probably don't but I'm just saying)

Still nope - I submitted a support request to Rockstar so we'll see how that goes.

Turning off the DLSS before you boot the game helped me. Once in game you can turn it back on. Good to turn it off again before you quit. If youre on an AMD processor, try turning off FSR. We have 2 other threads on here about this bug. There are a good number of us having the same crash when trying to load a game.
One other thing, have you all tried running the benchmark in graphics settings? It has to load that the same way as loading a save. Does it crash there as well?

I've emailed R* Support and I will update everyone with what they say when they respond.

The latest Nvidia driver directly mentions a fix for this game . Have you tried the newest one? If that doesnt work, try 531.68. Thats the one I used for about 120 hours or so.
