How can you get one of those earlier in game, i am on level 5 and still can't buy one?

cant get it earlier than that cuz it's an endgame repeater

when you return from quarma litchfield and carcano get unlocked which sucks but it is what it is.

they unlock with the same mission.

"goodbye dear friend"

you get the carcano for free tho in "The Delights of Van Horn"

You can also get it for free after reaching goodbye dear friend if you get the random encounter with the snake bite guy assuming he lives. Anyways depending on which one you get and where (for me its best to get it near valentine) but the guy in valentine will let you get 1 free item from the gunsmith on his tab. I tend to get his random encounter quite frequently (dumb ♥♥♥♥♥ that he is can't hear a rattle for ♥♥♥♥ but I ain't complaining free is free).

that's kinda a waste btw if since you can get literally any gun for free that way and you get the carcano for free via a mission that you can't skip.

yeah i always try to run away from those guys early on before you unlock anything lol

if you get away quick enough they just despawn without you losing honor and will later reappear for you to basically get any gun you want for free.

unless you save the guy near strawberry and all you get is something from the general store lmao.

picked up a nice set of suspenders that i'll just leave in a chest and never put on lol.

The money you should have by that point should well enough cover buying and customizing the carcano as soon as it is available to buy. Buy the time you get it free arthur is...well you know...unable to make use of it for very long. Can't take the money with you as they say.

One thing i remember about getting a carcano for free is if you have a weapon on your shoulder and a weapon on your back, you have to drop one of them to keep the carcano. So for once in the game it finally makes sense NOT to have two guns when you and sadie get to van horn and you dismount. If you drop your rare rolling block I have had it disappear even though the game is supposed to return it to the horse. I also came out of that mission losing a carcano that i had prior to starting it. You can afford to buy it as soon as you get back from the island and get back to the gang. and finish that mission.

go to the rhodes gunsmith and go downstairs, i believe you can do this right after chapter 1

the lancaster is way better okay does a bit less dmg but has better aim and reload speed and the same range making the head shot easier to land and more sustainably which negate the dmg drawback ... but still not better thn dual lemat lol

Actually i stopped using the repeaters and just go with semi-auto shotgun, and rare rolling block, bolt action or even a standard rolling block, until chapter 6. Repeaters are handy though especially the litchfield with improved ammo

i don't wanna spoil it for you but it's chapter six and you get to make sure someone who's an enemy to the van der lindes dies the death he deserves.

carcano is the best rifle in the game so it makes sense that it's only available at endgame.
