Sadly that part of the game was primarily crafted for Red Dead Online.
Personally I really hope they do a RDR1 Remake inside the RDR2 world and engine at some point. Cause it would be a real waste to recreate the American side of RDR1 and not touch it for the SP. Just wasting it on that Online mode.
Was thinking the exact same thing when the credits rolled on RDR2. They have to remake RDR in this engine. The sales figured of a RDR remake would be huge, given how many copies of RDR2 sold.
Shame that I can't work out what the remaining 13% of the game is. Maybe part of it was getting all the legendary pelts.
If you pause the game and select [PROGRESS] then select [TOTAL COMPLETION]
The game gives you a list of things you need to complete in order to get the 100%.
It ranges from doing all the challenges, hunting all the Legendary Animals, to doing a set amount of encounter types. Getting 100% isn't too difficult, just takes time. So it's a good thing the game is fun to spend that time with. (Also remember to buy all the Reinforced Equipment from the trapper once you do the challenges that unlock them.)
You can try and complete as much of that list as you think you can figure out on your own but when it comes to the last few things remember there's no shame in using a guide. Rockstar games are kind of designed around the idea of using guides to complete certain things. Remember the Flying Rats from GTA4?
The game is wast and amazing but it is still sad when you see all the cut content that they either didn't have time to finish, wouldn't work with the direction they ended up taking the game, or simply couldn't get working.
Imagine how amazing it would be to get like a big PC update, console Next-Gen upgrade. That would add things like Ray Tracing, higher resolution textures and assets. As well as restoring some of the cut content. Like the kidnapped princess quest. I know it will never happen but it's a nice dream.
(Heck, I'd personally be fine with needing to re-buy the game on PC if the new things were grand enough. Better LOD, textures, new weapons, outfits and stranger missions. Or make some of the mysteries that are set up in RDR2 get pay offs in the fan dream RDR1 Remake.)
I didn't know about cut content, but I did feel like some of chapter six felt rushed. It was like they had no idea where to go, and ended it. It contrasted with the colossal build up of the first three chapters.
Still a great game though, even if I had like left right and centre with it. Like why was right click not aim? Why was fast travel not implemented to be used more easily - instead of from camp and from a temporary camp. Hunting, pelts, trappers and Pearson (crafting components) - crap that was confusing.
Agree wholeheartedly though, that RDR2 should have ray tracing. Yeah it looks gorgeous without RT, but it's aching and screaming for RT in my opinion. ... Any extra content to enrich chapter six would have been welcome too.
I had fun giving the Del Lobos plenty of Chances to redeam Ramon's plans for vengeance. I mean why wait for them. Lets Dance.
Oh and I also learned John CANT SWIM.
Thanks for that. I went to see and I have looked at that a few times. I never got very far with challenges.
I think looking back now with 141 hours, and story 100%, I am happy with the game. (Was surprised to see that only 20% of players completed the storey to 100%, to get the Endless Summer achievement.)
I have been exploring a bit in New Austin. I noticed an area of the map was used in the Epilogue. (Odd that the map was not revealed after doing that mission. It was on one of the Sadie Adler bounties that you do with her.) That rocky cliff like area was in New Austin where it says Hennigan's (Stead) on the map.
Surprisingly good fun just exploring what's left of the map.
However I have bought the Unchartered: Legacy of Thieves bundle so will be moving onto that.
