I believe you receive, a large pay-out the first time you complete all the missions. They’re also easy enough that they shouldn’t give a new player too much trouble (although sometimes it can be hard finding people to co-op with).
Next, do whatever it takes to earn gold bars. “Daily Challenges” and “Stranger Missions” award them (although it’s a slow grind).
When you have enough gold bars you’ll want to unlock the Bounty Hunter Role, this’ll help you earn more gold bars faster.
After that, try levelling up and unlocking all the roles. I’d do them in this order:
- Bounty Hunter
- Trader
- Moonshiner
- Collector
- Naturalist
That’ll keep ya busy for a long time. :)
All the while you’ll be wanting to upgrade your Ability Cards, base stats (health, stamina, dead eye), and purchase/upgrade weapons.
I only ever use these weapons:
- Volcanic Pistol
- Varmint Rifle
- Upgraded Bow
- Bolt Action Rifle
But lots of players also love the Lemat Revolver.
As soon as you can, try to purchase the Red Chestnut Arabian horse; it’s a great stop-gap until you can afford/unlock the best horses in the game.
I hope this helps. :)
Recently bought a game. Haven't played online yet. Thanks for the tips.
You can access your daily challenges by pressing "L" and clicking the relevant menu.
For every week you do these simple challenges your remuneration will increase regardless if you only do one a day for a week.
IE you'll receive 0.1 gold bars the first week, 0.15 the second, 0.2 the third and 0.25 gold bars of gold the the fourth week for every daily challenge you complete.
So for 4 daily challenges a day for the first week you will receive 0.4 gold bars per day, for the fourth week doing 4 daily challenges per day you will receive 1.0 gold bars per day.
If you can complete 7 "General" daily challenges you will also get a bonus, the same applies for "role" challenges where you need to complete 9 challenges for the bonuses.... But that's for later.
Now secondly, visit post offices and you will be offered "Free Roam" events such as riding shotgun for a delivery or delivering the mail, these are fun events and will dial you in with how things work and can be done completely solo.
Best Wishes.
The trader takes a long time to produce a full wagonload (using the 100 unit wagon upgrade) and takes a lot of 3* carcasses to keep stocked, but once you get him fully stocked it's hurry up and wait . . . great time to jump over and do some bounties and earn gold until Cripps is stalled again by low supplies or has a full wagon ready for delivery.
The trader role is great for earning 2500 xp and $625 per 100 unit long range delivery, and the bounty hunter will earn you the most gold per mission (especially if you wait until less than 30 seconds left before delivering them, for some reason this almost doubles the xp, gold and $ payouts).
Another tip is to get the stewpot as soon as possible for your trader camp, as it lets you make Cripps 'special recipe' stews that give you gold cores for 3 in-game days.
good luck & have fun ;)
You can find treasure maps, rare alcohol and all manner of other things on their cold dead bodies.
They're all bandits after all.
You chase the bounty for miles and miles and catch him, well played, now go back and see what you could have won.
There'll be nothing there.
