RDO treasure map rant

this post is pretty pointless and I wrote it because I needed to let off some steam.
treasure maps seems pretty immersive and cool until it sucks the life out of you when you try to find it.

ok so here is a random large circle in the map and somewhere within that circle is the treasure, and within that circle could literally be the mount Everest and the Mariana Trench next to each other and the treasure could be either at the bottom or at the top.
couldn't you have made it a bit more immersive, maybe a drawing of a tree or a rock. something other than dead eye (which is not that useful) to indicate the locations? but thats not even the only problem.

the stupid "random" event that you are forced into it also largely interfere as well. for example within that large circle is a random bounty event but if you get too close you will be forced into doing that bounty so now you have to either wait it out or just take the bounty and then go all the way back to the spot to continue searching. BUT it doesn't end there because THERE IS ANOTHER RANDOM EVENT in its place.

I sh*t you not I spend 45 mins trying to find this lousy treasure and got forced into a rescue mission so I did that, came back, opened the map and started looking but this time I got forced into a bootlegger mission so I did that to see if the chest is within that area and after I move somewhere else within the yellow circle I got forced into a protect mission. I just gave up at that point.

why was a looking for the treasure? the same reason you destroy someone's products they spend hours collecting. ITS IN THE GAME.

It’s not supposed to be easy , if you can’t handle it use a guide , there’s tons on YouTube , or don’t do them ,

It's also still so very easy. Just walk around with that circle and use Eagle-Eye, that will highlight the loot box when you are within eye sight of it.

It's a lot of guides and screenshots for treasure maps. It's always 4 points with chest and usualy chest is close to some area with beautiful view or some wagon, or cave etc. U can use ur deadeye skill to find the treasure - u will see yellow particles above the chest.

This guy has a guide for every treasure map from online, with red x's to show each possible spawn on each map, then a zoom/close up to every spot, problem solved.

Use it as you like, or not . . . but as Motha said, they're not that hard to find just using eagle eye/diminishing circles, either way your call.

My take with the weak ass bounty popup, if he´s close to Flatneck Station, I just rope the target and toss him off the train bridge, not worth the crappy reward. Problem solved, easy to continue treasure hunting.

Also many of times I had activated a treasure map and when I got to the yellow circle location, for a few of these maps I knew what the possible locations were, as there are only a few possibles for each location, and because of how the overall online experience is sometimes with Rockatar Games, well you know... so anyways sometimes the location was bugged I searched entire area up and down every little nook and cranny... nothing. So then I'd activate a quest or mission of some sort to force the treasure map to deactivate for the time being. And try it again later. Or exit the session by pressing ESC > Story > Exit. As this forces me to leave that session and go back to the main menu system. Then go select Camp. This loads me into a different session (hopefully) and spawn at the camp I had Cripps setup. Then activate the treasure map and try again. Usually after all this, I finally find the loot box.

Sometimes there is still the on-going random bug where Treasure Maps and Metal Detector is not working. When that happens I have to exit the game and go delete the player file. Then launch the game and go back into RDO and it works again, for a while at least. Usually works for a few weeks before it ultimately breaks once again for whatever reason. Rinse and repeat.

Never forget to use your metal detector even if you're looking for a treasure, you'll be amazed how many times you might find something you weren't really looking for.
