Keyboard Mouse? Default is pressing the middle mouse (pressing scroll wheel). I'll admit its awkward.

Eagle eye - No weapon drawn
Dead eye - Weapon drawn

I don't know nothing about controllers if thats your thing.

no its not my thing ..

If you are talking the Draw weapon thing. Yeah that is specific to a mission, its not something in regular day to day actions. It's kind of ridiculous in my opinion.

It amounts to putting yourself at disadvantage for the sake of drama, I HATE IT. Why would I put my gun back in its holster, I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF A SITUATION HERE.

But thats just me. Substance over style.

So to be clear:

Eagle eye - No weapon drawn - This is used to highlight objects of interest. Scanning if you will

Dead eye - Weapon drawn - This is used for Combat and has various levels of function specific to your exp level. Paint the target as your cursor crosses the target. Paint the target specific (Press the key to paint the target) Paint and shoot while remaining in deadeye mod.

Draw Weapon: Used in missions to do a kind of fast draw and shoot event. Just like in the westerns.

Not sure what you are talking about specifically.

you are weird .. i specifically said "DEAD EYE WITHOUT A WEAPON" .. dont know whats hard to understand.

I know how to use dead eye with weapon out ..
i know how to use eagle eye to hunt for clues ..

i asked about how to use dead eye without a weapon .. thats all .. no reason to talk about anything else ..
but if you are talking about the same thing, so .. i would guess its optional only during certain encounters, no able to use it freely on my on ..

you needlessly talk about different things i didnt asked and make a mess conversation, very hard to tell the difference and actually get an answer to my questions ..

You can't use Dead Eye without a weapon drawn unless it's scripted stuff.

To allow for a Quick Draw Dead-Eye moment you bave to be on-foot, first right click an NPC to ensure he/she is within range for Speech (such as Greet)

Then after doing this, hold down both left and right click at the same time and you should see DRAW in lower right corner. There will be a delay as you have to continue to hold both buttons in order to actually do the dead-eye draw on someone. You can also use this (without completing it fully as another form of intimidating someone as well. As most will get scared and run off but without anything to do with calling for a Lawman and such.

I think that this first has to be learned. By having your first encounter via side-quest before you are able to do it on others at any time sort of thing.

So it is a duel.
He wants to set up an ambush

Ok so you get close enough, without being detected to a group of enemies and aim weapon and enter dead-eye, mark each head and fire.

Done deal.

I want to try this now!
I only know Dead Eye activation with weapon drawn or duel in side quests.

Yes normally throughout the game Dead-Eye can only be activated to mark targets while you have a weapon already drawn and are aiming with it. Otherwise it's just Eagle-Eye for spotting Animals, Plants, loose items, corpses, etc. Eagle-Eye will not reveal human targets. Unless maybe when doing a Bounty mission.

I'm now doing another play-through and now I can't remember the trick I used for the Challenge that requires "disarm 3 enemies in one go without reloading or switching weapons" - well then I guess can't use Dead-Eye to do that unless it's all 3 in a single dead-eye that get disarmed because activating dead-eye again would auto reload my weapon and not comply with the challenge rules.
