Can you play single player offline?

Can you play single player offline? My internet is having problems and it says I need to activate my account when I'm offline. Works fine when connected to the internet.

the way i understand it: once per start up of your pc, you need to be online to connect to the Rockstar services so it confirms you own the game. so you would need to be online for the first time launching the game successfully and can play offline after that until you restart your pc

Not just the first time
Altho steam allows you to launch your games in offline mode for 15 days
but for Rockstar launcher you gotta be online EACH ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TIME
You have to be online for log in , and once you're in the main menu screen you can play the story offline.

I had some issues with this, my workaround was to use my mobile phone as a hotspot when logging in to the game, then turned off hotspot once the launcher had finished doing its thing. This was a year or two ago, so idk if it still works

You need internet to start the game, you can turn it off after you load in.

yeah this is what ive been doing...i dont know why I cant play a single player game offline that I paid for but a hacker can

To play singleplayer story mode offline you need to start the game up online once every Thursday to update Rockstar DRM. Then quit and you can play offline for another week. Total ball ache :/

Edit. Ive had to activate this game 4 times this week, Can someone explain this stupidity to me?
And now i get activation error every time i try to play offline. :/
