online only?

Personally i cant play it offline at all, no matter what i do if i turn off internet it says "cant get license"

That happens to me when i wanna play it on my steam deck at school, i'm so pissed off that i have to connect to the internet and then open the game and wait to connect SC account before i go touch some grass to like verify that i own the game to play offline outside.

It's not just steam, it's rockstar just being ♥♥♥♥♥, i wish some good company buy rockstar's companies before rockstar is going greedy like EA, do y'all agree with me? No? Because they're making GTA 6? fair enough i guess, but except for their stupid internet requirements.

u can turn on the internet to log into the game, then, on the main screen where u choose to play single/online u can turn it off

Not working for me, works like that for other rockstar games eg GTA Definitive Edition but not in Red Dead 2

Alr so today, i tried to launch RDR2 on my steam deck while offline at school, and then it turns out that i can get to play the single player without internet, like i am so confused, i was expecting to get "Activation Required" message and then kick me out of the game since it happened to me too! but after 1 week since activation required, now it lets me to play single player when you launch the game without internet. seriously!

Did anyone still got this activation required problem or can you now play offline?

Its pretty random, support dont really know how it works, sometimes it works, sometimes dont

I bought the game on the Rockstar Games Launcher especially to avoid dealing with multiple launchers, hoping it would ease the "offline mode" activation, but apparently they never got to make it work outside of Steam (and consoles). (And now it doesn't really work anymore anyway... I read something about it breaking in September 2022...)

It worked for me when the game has fully loaded and you are in. Then put steam deck on sleep and you should be able to pick it back up offline.
