Beaver Hollow Stash: How to access as John

I've just completed the epilogue and have come back to the old camp to see if I can retrieve the gang's stash as John. I've found the chest under the wagon, but I can't access it. Is it possible or is the gangs money forever trapped under an 8 year old wagon with a few box's beside it?

no. its not possible. you cant open the chest. let alone find out if the money is still in the chest.
