What to do with legendary animal pelts? Can we store them somehow? Cant figure out how.
Ive got 2 that I now pretty much have stuck on the back of my horse. The fox and the moose. I cant use them to craft anything at the trapper because the items they are for seem to require multiple pelts and I dont have the other parts.
I tried donating to Pearson but it says he doesnt take them. Am I just stuck with these things on the back of the horse? Im afraid i will lose them somehow.

everything the trapper uses to craft is something you sold to him.

Sell them to the trapper and he can craft them into things for you later.

Thank you, both of you. I didnt realize that. I feared that if I sold them that I would in effect lose them. I didnt realize that the trapper hold onto them.
Do you have to in effect buy the pelts back when you make something? So far ive only had a trapper make me the bear hat and that only required one pelt, so I dont know how that works.
Does it matter what trapper you sold it to? Right now im using the trapper in St. Denis mostly. If I sell the furs to him, do i have to then use him to make the clothing, or do they all share the furs and it doesnt matter what trapper you use?

All trappers are the same, and whatever you sell to one gets credited at all of them, so you can use any of them.

They keep a running total of what you need/sold them, and when you've sold enough of the right stuff to any of them, the item will be available to craft/buy from any of them.

The only exception to this are things you need to donate to Pearson back at camp for satchel/camp upgrades, etc . . . you need to donate those directly to him for credit for that.

The "Trapper" is the only Trapper, he appears at various locations but is always the same Trapper so it doesn't matter where you buy or sell, you're always dealing with the same person.

Everything you sell to him is logged, so if the Trapper in St Dennis requires say nine three star snake skins to make a hat, you can sell six to him and another three to the trapper in the far northwest and still buy the hat.

Hope that helps.

EDIT - Bart beat me to it.

Ok. thanks. I sold the legendary pelts I had to the trapper when he was in St. Denis.

Imagine if you're out on the far north west fringes of the map and you find a legendary moose, then imagine delivering it all the way to St Denis.

I think this is the reason the trapper can be found in various locations.

Yes, it would be a major pain in the ass, but certainly more realistic. Im glad they went with practical!

This game isn't known as a masterpiece for nothing.

Did you know that you can equip a watch in your weapon wheel, look at your watch down south and all is well, look at your watch in the frozen north and your hands will tremble with the cold.

Attention to detail, very realistic.

Masterpiece.

Cool, I have not seen that yet. I was using the watch a lot in the beginning, but now I just hit the alt button and see it displayed. I will have to check that out. There are a lot of really nice details in the game. You can tell that they cared about this game when they put it out. Its too bad it runs a bit rough on the PC now. Luckily its running pretty good for me now. Whatever im doing is working. I only had one or two crashes in about 1 week now I think. Today it crashed when I was going into chapter 5. It happened when the achievement for reaching chapter 5 popped up. The out of memory error. It was no big deal. I just restarted the game and it was fine. I did have to replay the scene where he is walking along the shore after the ship wreck, but other than that nothing really lost.
