Can mods interfere with save game, or corrupt it?

I have played the game for some hours with mods few months ago, it was basically companion mods, one for bodyguards and one for dog.

What I did not like is that on each event or cutscene or mission start the dog companion or bodyguard disappeared.

But the game was saved with the mod, so should I start over if I want to play whole playthrough again without any mods?

yes, especially if you add/remove stuff from your character you may get infinite loading screens, glitches and whatnot
I'm not sure about your mod but generally speaking the chance is there

I see. I have started the game again and its so fun and refreshing starting it for another time.
Unbelievable that it comes from Rockstar we know today and what a great game compared to other trash we have nowdays..

Mods can screw up a save, but its incredibly rare for that to occur, as they would need to do things like edit a save, or configure the players inventory (like 1899 firearms)
