Parakeets - what's the point?

Preface; If you aren't aware, the Carolina Parakeet is a 'secret' animal - a small bird that rarely spawns at select spots across Bayou Nwa in a small group, only for the player to eventually render them extinct per a side-quest provided in your log after hunting your first few.

Now, they are quite valuable, as selling a perfect specimen to a butcher / trapper will yield ~$4.50 vs ~$1.00 for most other perfect small birds ... However, I can't find a single alternative way to utilize them. The trapper has no use for their feathers, nor anyone else afaik, including Stranger missions. Also, the wiki claims that they provide 'exotic bird meat', but they can't seem to be processed by Chapter-#4-Arthur when cooking at a fire.

... if their singular utilization is as a commodity, it seems kinda silly, or at least not particularly worth-while given the time involved. Anyone know of any other use?

The point is to make them extinct, that is the mission. Kill 25 and you get the mission completed.

it's not really there for making a profit, it's there to remind us how the western expansion caused the extinction of a native species of parrot.

Meh - just surprised if there isn't any other point. Practically every other animal in the game is used in crafting or involved in a quest ... which, i guess their extinction is technically a quest?
