Social Club hacked?
I just reinstalled RDR2 to play story, and it worked fine for a day or two logging in via Social Club several times without issue.
Last night I got an email in mandarin about an email switch on my account and now when I log in with my information and email I have a duplicate account with another username and no games, hence I can't play RDR2 (Or GTAV) and I can't access my other account due to it having the hackers email and password.

I had dual verification, how is it possible for someone to just login and change the account ownership without my consent? How bad is Rockstar's security?!
I've already checked my email and Steam account and they haven't been compromised in any way so it's squarely on Rockstar.

If anyone else has this issue:
in the email with mandarin text, there's going to be a link consisting of two characters, this is account recovery.
Go to that link and enter your information and it should reset your account.
If, like me, you get a message saying that the email is in use, you need to create a new email for the dummy account that was made by the hacker and switch to that, and verify it.
Now account recovery should work and you can reclaim your games.

This is apparently the most common way hackers go about it and nowhere on their site does Rockstar suggest this way of recovery, nor do they do anything to assure your account's safety. They leave it up to the user, even though their system allows hackers to skirt around 2-step verification.

I have the same problem and am waiting for a response from support. I also want to play Red Dead but it asks for email verification. but i did it 2 days ago. Now a foreign e-mail is displayed.

I already solved it, per the first post in this thread.

Did you try to recover it? First post in this thread is how I solved it for myself.

It specifically states that this is about being able to access the account, so this isn't relevant.

Before you get hacked or after you recovered the account so you don't get hacked again so yea it's relevant

I was lucky to be able to recover my account as I was hacked just 3 days ago. Rockstar then sent me a Chinese email saying that I had changed my email address. Didn't notice it until a day later and translated it

When was the last time you used your Rockstar Account? If it was recently, you're in luck. But check your email if you've received a strange email from Rockstar. Mine was in Chinese and I supposedly agreed to an email exchange. Then it said, but if it wasn't me, I can do an account recovery. If you can't find anything in your emails, you're out of luck and will have to go all the way to support.

Hacker took my account and made a new one for me, my email and password, with the username I had on Social Club but with a "beautiful" (???) added.

This meant that my regular email was tied to this fake account, so I had to create another email adress for myself and move the new, fake Social club account to that email.

This made my regular email vacant and thus I could use the "recover account" in the mandarin text email to reclaim my Social Club account, and be able to play my games again.

If you have your email tied to another account you can't recover your original account.
