Welcome to Red Dead Online for PC, it’s saturated with cheaters. :/
If you ever want to play online with idiots then temporarily move the file to desktop.

can i still invite my friends without making the lobby public?
Providing your friends have the same file and password you're all good to go, not only that but every time you or your friends log into the game you will automatically be together on the same server.
The only things you can't do is jump ship to join another lobby to take part in "King of the Hill!" or play poker etc.
All characters and quests remain the same and you and your friends can play uninterrupted.
This site shows in real time the next missions for RDO that you may wish to partake in.

If you want to partake in a particular event just temporarily close the game and move the file to desktop.
