Video memory running low [FIXED]
I keep getting this "WARNING: Your game is running low on video memory. Turn off other applications or lower graphics settings"
Nothing changes if i change my settings and I'm not running any background applications either. Anyone knows how to work around this? I looked at ways to fix this and everyone just says "lower your graphics settings" which doesn't change anything.

There is a VRAM leak associated with the Vulkan API, it's been a problem for a while now. I'll instruct you on how to address it. So first you want to go into steam settings, shader pre-caching, enable both settings in there. Now launch your game and go to settings, graphics, you will see a setting called Nvidia Reflex Low Latency, set this Enabled+Boost. Now scroll down to Nvidia DLSS, set this to balanced. Next scroll down to advanced graphics, it will be locked and set to Vulkan API, unlock it and switch to DirectX 12 API, you will be prompted to restart your game, once you do go back and verify that the settings did stick, if they didn't do it again until they do. Once those settings stick you are free to change everything else to whatever you want so long as the 3 settings listed here remain at what I just recommended. I personally prefer Vulkan to DirectX 12 but sadly until the VRAM leak is fixed in it Vulkan is unusable.

Also try changing the resolution. Update gpu drivers.
It shows you in the graphics setttings how much Vram is used and how much is left.

Sadly that reflection isn't really useful because of the leak so even though it reflects that you should still have a gig free it still ends up running out as you play.

If you're on a 6 gig card it will actually run out. Not to mention the warning popping up every 10 seconds is annoying and there's no way to disable that notification.

Okay so i did this and did some testing. I don't seem to get the message anymore but now my game has some very noticeable screen tearing

Enable Vsync
ArcTheWolf Feb 18, 2023 @ 2:41pm
I prefer to enable Vsync through my GPU control panel that way it's always on no matter what, but enabling it through the game should be enough.

What is your GPU? Please enable your Windows virtual memory, i used to experience the same issue. Also for this game windowed mode + vsync is better than full screen to avoid such issue.

Increasing your virtual memory capacity does not help with a VRAM leak in a game, VRAM on a GPU and virtual memory are not the same thing, increasing your virtual memory only keeps your system from crashing in the event you overdraw your RAM while running a program, even then this does not let you play games that require 16 gigs of RAM with less than 16 gigs of RAM so it's not a way to get more RAM virtually. Let's say I have have 16 gigs of RAM, and I'm running a program that usually only needs 14 gigs of RAM to run, now let's say something happens while I'm running that game, could be anything that causes my computer to try to utilize more than the 16 gigs of installed RAM, we'll say it needed 18 just so we have a number to work with. Now if I've increased my virtual memory pool to 18, then instead of blue screening in this moment it flushes what is currently loaded up in the 16 gigs of installed RAM to the virtual memory, in this case the program that is using the majority of those resources typically whatever game you're playing will still crash, but it will keep your PC from crashing in the process which in turn results in protecting your PC. The point is increasing virtual memory will not solve the Video Memory Low issue.

I set my texture to medium. Viola!

I have a RTX 3050 and I'm playing on a laptop. Now that you mention it, my game sometimes refuses to go into fullscreen and I just play on windowed borderless mode without even noticing. When turning on Vsync I didn't see a difference at all, it did however fix my issue and I don't get that annoying warning message anymore.

Game works fine now and I don't get any warning messages, thank you everyone who had helped me out.
I lowered my graphics settings to medium mostly, including textures, set my API to DX12, enabled nvidia reflex to "enabled + boost" and tweaked some settings in nvidia control panel. Only thing that I've changed is turned off the Vsync since i don't see a difference at all and i don't get any screen tearing anymore. I tested and the game runs at stable 90 fps on average. In Saint Denis i get 60-70 fps on average and at camp (I'm still in chapter 2) I get 70-80 fps on average. Thanks again to everyone who helped.

Thanks for clarifications  So virtual memory cant help VRAM? OK. I believe high texture eat the VRAM right..
