I can't play the game I paid for?!
I bought RDR2 a month ago and it was the first time I've experienced such a life filled, huge open world, story driven game and it was Amazing!

Went through the missions without noticing how time flied and got to 50 in-game hours in a couple of days....when disaster struck.

I open my PC one day and start up the game.As the rockstar launcher loads up, my power in the house goess off and the launcher couldn't connect.

Game starts up anyway, but im greeted with a "Activation Required" notice, so I figured its because of the WiFi not working. Decided to wait for the power to come back on and play then.

Power comes back after 2 hours, so I re-boot everything, but this time, with my WiFi working, rockstar game launcher couldn't connect again. Despite me having a really fast (working) WiFi connection, the launcher refused to connect and just displayed a "Launcher is in offline mode" message. Game still starts, but then again, an "Activation Required" message pop's up.

I restarted the launcher and tried again. Didn't work. Tried re-installing the launcher - Uninstalled it, went to the rockstar website, clicked on the menu - Social Club, clicked aaannndd...Nothing! Social club website didn't want to load. I can't even download the launcher at this point!

Read some articles on the internet about the issue, and people suggested the following: Flush DNS, Reset DNS, change DNS IP, disable Firewalls and Anti-virus software, connect to mobile hotspot, use a VPN. NOTHING WORKED FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw some people managed to get it working with one of the above solutions, but I could not for the life of me get the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ launcher to work at all!

Next step - Contacting Rockstar

Explained my situation to the person I was chatting with and they were trying to help me, really did and were very kind, but all they were doing were making me repeat the steps I mentioned above. At the end, they "escalated" my case to Email, but that was about it. Didn't get any email from them after that, NOTHING!

If any of you here at this forum have had a similar situation, please help me out. I feel like I've been robbed.

I'm sorry to say tldr in full but I think I got the gist of your problem.

I have in the past read about completely disconnecting your router or whatever for five minutes to let it reset and then re-connecting.

No idea if the above will work but disconnect anyway and then tether your phone to your PC to see if the problem is theirs or a recognition of your isp when using your usual internet connection.

I've tried everything there is to try, man. I just want my money back at this point. Rockstar really outdid themselves...

Then just ask R* for your money back rather than asking for help when you've already "tried everything".

I hope you can get it going mate, I really do., it's a great gaming experience and no doubt you've read and heard a lot about it.

Don't give up.

If you can't reach the Rockstar SocialClub website with your PC browser, then try reaching it with your phone while on your home WiFi.

If you can't reach it with your phone either, then it's your router. Resetting it should fix the problem.

If you can't reach it through your PC then go into your browser and clear any cache data for rockstargames.com. Try again. If it still doesn't work try a different browser.

If it's only the Rockstar launcher that isn't working, uninstall it. Then make sure to delete these folders in case they are holding onto bad/corrupted info.

%USER%\Documents\Rockstar Games\Social Club
%USER%\Documents\Rockstar Games\Launcher
%USER%\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\Launcher

Reinstall the launcher. Confirm you can login to your account. Try launching the game again from Steam.

I cannot log in to either the browser webpage (desapite using different browsers), nor the launcher. I tried to do it with my mobile hotspot, the wifi, even asked my neighbor for their wifi password and didn't work either

Yeah, I'm getting the same thing right now. It's done this to me before, but I just don't recall what, if anything I did to fix it.
Maybe unplugged the router for a bit or just flipped em off and did other things for a day or two.
Sorry that's not much help but it's all I've got.

Well, then. I ran defrag and advanced system care (pro), went to town for wifey's meds and stuff. Came back and started the game from Steam and all's well.
So, I dunno.
ASC is well worth having, though. Fixes alot of things and makes my machine run slick as warm butter.
Free vesion doesn't do as much oc, but might be worth trying.

So you had the same issue and fixed it with a system care program?

{I tried every single method possible but this has nothing to do with dns, graphics driver being outdated or whatnot} The game legit refused to run with error 109. I cannot do anything on my end. Fix this ROCKSTAR GAMES !
Furry Lord Feb 2, 2023 @ 12:40pm
I have tried patching the rockstar app with command line but the game refuses to start up. So it is not outdated software THEN WHAT IS IT. Why is a user fussing over such thing. I just want to play games MAN!

I am legitimate going to go crazy and post on every single discussion thread like a rabid ant on nuclear radiation.
