no barber in the saloon

so I'm at chapter 3 of the game, and i came to the part where Arthur was kidnapped and has long hair. I wanted to get it cut and i went to the saloon in valentine, when i got there there was no barber. I searched it up online there were youtube tutorials on how to get a cut before americans at rest mission but i got past it already. It also said they were in Saint Denis, and i cant get there yet. I tried restarting the game and the barber is still not there, do i have to finish a particular mission? Please do tell me why.

edit: first of all thanks for everyone who suggested me to go to saint Denis ( the barber is there ), i really didn't want to spend time going to Saint Denis so i waited till chapter 4 lol. So yeah barbers only spawn in Saint Denis and Blackwater i guess?

It has happened to me as well. I get a room and sleep till morning. If that doesn't reset, I restart the game. That has worked for me. Good luck.

You can go to Saint Denis any time you feel like it.

finally managed to go to saint denis and you're right hes there, kinda weird for the barber to not appear in valentine but meh thanks guys

Any shooting nearby? Might have sent him into flee mode. I think they eventually show back up. At least the Bartender in the small saloon did after an altercation where I looked at him (Not making this up, I stared at him, no weapon, didn't say a word, was on my side of the counter).

Yes that is rather odd. Even if you happen to shoot up all of Valentine, the Bartender, Barber and Piano player would all usually remain at the Saloon, unless the NPC died. At which they'll be back at a later time. But yes there are plenty of shops in Saint Dennis, Barber being one of them; check your Map.

First of all, make your own thread.
Second they don't use support emails. Email is so 20 years ago.

Go to socialclub.rockstargames.com
Login and go to the game or support section.

As far as how the game launches. First you want to launch Steam via Run As Admin. And then just to be sure, launch Rockstar Launcher and make sure it is logged in and saved your login. Then exit the Launcher. Launch game from Steam.

If it keeps saying rdr2 is already running, it's cause you have Rockstar launcher running, which it should not be.

As BM said, R* Launcher is running in the background.

Open Task Manager, scroll down and close any R* or Steam app's that are running.

Don't have to close Steam, just the EXE with the Rockstar logo. Look under Task Manager > Details. Force close any Rockstar related stuff. Wait about 10 secs, then relaunch the game from Steam

I think the Barber got killed. He will respawn, but it takes some time. I once killed the bartender in Van Horn and it more than 2 weeks (game time) for the Bartender to reappear.

It shouldn't take anymore then 12-24 hours.
Travel to another area or town. Go to the barber in Saint Dennis; even in Chapter 2 you are free to do that. Or go back to Camp and Sleep.

I was doing weapons expert challenge 6 in the Van Horn saloon, so lots of npcs said good bye. Dunno what more to say. What should happen is beyond my capabilities, what did happen was a great deal of game time.

Sometimes I fast travel and sleep and it doesn't work but it's rare. Usually after going back to camp or go well away from Valentine and use the pop-up camp, cook some stuff, setup tent and sleep. Then tear down the camp, save game manually so it's the most recent save, then select quit so it goes back to main menu and dumps the game world cache. Then click start again to re-enter story mode and that usually does the trick.

Pop-up camp from time to time is very helpful anyways since those have a grill. Which is required to cook seasoned meats.

I've got two sixty year old mates with ten hairs between them and they're still looking for a decent barber.
