Mission 2 can't aim.
When the wolves start to come towards me the character will aim, but when they get within shooting distance he lowers his weapon and stops aiming. Then I get attacked by a wolf, fail the objective and have to do the whole 10 minute walking thing again. This is the most frustrating, boring and repetitive game I have played so far.

Forget about the repetitive thing. You're still in what is really the tutorial. In your next mission you will also find out about dead eye aiming which makes the whole shooting thing a lot easier and also a lot more cinematic and interesting.

The gun will aim but what I found was, and I had to do it a few times as well, is that clicking the buttons too quickly doesn't work. Double clicks lead to misfiring or no firing at all so I think that is the trouble you're having.

It's not the game.

And immediately after you killed these wolves, you're going to have to shoot wolves from your horse as you run away down the mountain. Don't worry though, that's actually easier.

Just keep trying. The whole point is to get your control habits correct. And when they are correct the wolves will be dead.

I have kept trying that's why I'm getting frustrated. I know how to hold the aim button, that's why I can aim in the first place. But he stops aiming when the wolves get close.
press middle mouth button to freeze time, called dead eyes, this will let you shoot targets easily

I don't think that's available in the wolf fight where you go to find John. It comes up a bit later. I think the middle mouse button is still disabled in this early part of the game.

It shouldn't actually stop aiming though is the thing dude. I don't think there is a way it can be done without the wolves getting close because 3 wolves and 2 shots before a reload is needed.

Try this to see if adds any help....... By coincidence, I also run up to the rocks as shown here.

But that is what it does when the wolves get within range, and that's what the problem is. If you Google it, a lot of people have this same problem. Some people have said something about the controller, but I'm just using a standard xbox controller, it doesn't have trigger stops or whatever they are talking about. I am not double tapping like the video says.

I have been trying this mission for about 3 hours over and over and always the same ♥♥♥♥. I can complete the mission easily, but I either take damage or fail the accuracy for the gold. And you can't get it if you reload a checkpoint, so you have to do the same boring walk to get there with every attempt. It's just terrible game design.

Did you check out the video just for confirmation even if it just helps with positioning etc?

I had another thought. By the time you get to this part you might have oat biscuits and whiskey. Could it be that you're getting bitten with hardly any strength and stamina left?

It might mean completely starting again which is not so bad as you're so close to the start of the game but search everything you can to find supplies in the camp before you leave.

See if you can get your energy up before the wolf battle. It might make a difference between 3 bites and 4 bites from the wolves?

Don't give up though, some really fun and spectacular looking missions coming up and I am only about 5% into the game so far. A lot more fun and interesting bits are about to happen.

Yh I checked the video, I think it's something to do with the distraction for the wolves, changing the controls. I have tried eating and drinking before the battle. I don't die to the wolves but I usually get bitten so I fail the gold, and to go for gold you have to do the walking part each time which is just boring and frustrating.

I'll give it a few shots later with the pistol instead of the shotgun and see if the helps. If not I'll skip that gold and carry on. But first impressions of this game are not good.

Giving up is not an option, I want to complete all my games on this profile to keep it at 100% completion.
