Do I need Rockstar Launcher or Account to play this on Steam?
My friend says it's a good game. I'll get it while it's on sale, but if I have to install Rockstar Launcher or have an account I have no interest in it.

Yes. You need to have a Rockstar account and be signed in to run the game, when RDR2 is launched it will automatically log you in

That sucks. I only wanted to play it offline.

I felt the same way but honestly its still worth it. The account is free and you can set the privacy settings on the Rockstar social club to not share anything.

Wait until Rockstar decide to get rid of the Rockstar Games Launcher. Currently, you can't even launch the game if you have an Internet outage. Sure, you are allowed to keep playing if Internet dies while you play, but who care if you can't even launch the game in the first place.

Maybe if they ever remove the Rockstar Games Launcher, they'll also fix this problem. Both GTA4 and GTA5 can be launched in without Internet, so there's no reason for this to be a thing with RDR2, especially since people already cracked the game. 🤷‍♂️ In the end, only honest customers are "suffering" from this crappy situation. (This might be a bug.)

I've had a Rockstar account in the past. I love Bully and wish they'd make a new version of it, but outside of that no thanks I have no need for it. I know you can opt out of receiving emails and updates, but that never works. You still occasionally receive updates and I don't want it.

I'm getting updates for some crap currently I haven't had in years and don't even use. I tried to contact them and I think it's overseas outsourcing so they don't understand. Oh it was Venmo. They keep bothering me. I've never used Venmo not once. I mean I had an account, but deleted it.

Unless you put steam into offline mode everytime you play, then all your games are online always. It is getting really old people complaining about launchers. How crappy is your PC that something nearly every company has, wont run right for you. LOL sad.

I regret to inform you that the future will only be a constant source of sorrow and disappointment, with new launchers and emails each passing day. Just like the Romans. /s

Making an account on Rockstar was like a 3-minute ordeal. Well worth the it in my opinion. You don't have to keep logging on each time, it saves your log-in info.

False. you activate it then you can put steam in offline mode, it will not ask you to reactivate it again for a week or two.

I need a confirmation. Does it really work? It's important. I need to know, Because it doesn't work for people like me who bought the game on the Rockstar Games Launcher. (You can disconnect while playing, but not when launching, which is not as useful...)

Try it, please. Activate the "Offline Mode", and disconnect your cable or from the Wi-Fi.

I know it's not working, but I read rumors that older versions used to work.
