How do I wash clothes in rdr2?

Occasionally while travelling around the map, the character's clothes would get dirty.
Like dusts, mud, blood, brain matter, and animal guts. The usual.

Then I stumbled upon this situation.
I got accused of murdering someone just cause Arthur is covered in blood, like a lot. I did make him murder someone before going into town though, I didn't really pay much attention to whether I was killing a bandit, a civilian, or a bounty hunter. They did shot at me first since I hit them with my horse on accident, and they killed my horse, yes.

Anyway back to the story, after killing something, I went into the town, and the townsfolk got all uppity since I am covered in blood then after a while I got accused of murdering someone. Good thing is that I didn't get a bounty. All of this sort of occurred without the wanted poster coming up to investigate me for murder since the guy I killed was quite a while away from the town.

Ever since I experienced something like that I thought about washing my clothes of blood the next time I killed a human, and to my surprise there are no real mechanic that tell me how to wash my clothes while near a river or in the river. It sort of cleaned my clothes by staying in the river a bit, but not enough to clean whatever is on the shoulder or on Arthur's face and hat. I still get comments about the blood that I didn't get to clean off in the river sometimes

I mean, there's the bath at the hotel, which clean everything. But is there no real way to wash Arthur's clothes other than the hotel bath or dipping yourself in water like an idiot? Or am I missing something?

Run through water streams or swim in rivers. Also overtime blood goes away naturally.

Change your outfit at your horse.
If you are wearing one of your Stored outfits, you can change into an already equipped outfit and basically just equips it fresh (Cleans it)

Oh, I really thought there would be a way to wash your clothes or atleast a way to wipe your blood and dirt away with water from the river or a blanket atleast.

I got accused of having murdered someone due to how much blood is on me but they didn't really implement an immersive way to wash it off?

Just be careful with this. Yes it washes off blood and dirt, however all contact with water (not rain though) where you are running through water high then your knees, this damages any weapons you have on your person such as rifle, shotgun, pistol(s) (not the Bow though)

You can clean your whole body and the set of clothes you are wearing via...

^ You can go to General Store or Gang Camp and go to Wardrobe and create Saved Outfits where you customize the mix of clothing. Then you can use the Store On Horse option for sets of Outfits and also Hats. If the Outfit includes a Hat, that Hat automatically gets stored on the horse if you store an outfit on the horse. Always ensure to get the Upgraded Saddlebags for your Horse's Saddle. The Standard one gives 3x Outfit Slots, the Upgraded one gives 5x Outfit Slots.

I've also noticed that cleaning your weapons for some reason also cleans your clothes a certain amount as well.

Could be graphical bug on your end. I don't see that. I can sit there and clean 5 guns and yet I still have blood on my gloves from that animal corpse I picked up and tossed on my horse 5 mins ago.

They used a rag and any excess just stayed, you did not want to use a tub after a cowboy had a bath in town

I'm doing this online, not sure if it makes any difference. Done it many times, not sure why it's different for us.

Confirmed the wardrobe thing, just taking off your hat and then putting it back on again completely cleans your body and clothes.

Yes the online isn't a big deal with all of this. In Story the dirt, blood and muck stays on you longer and people in your Gang Camp will complain about you smelling and such sometimes. While quick switching outfits from wardrobe or horse cleans them in Story and Online. In Story you still not cleaning your body and I also think they put bath in there for immersion and being too dirty too long might also have an effect on how some NPCs treat you, make comments, etc. In Online none of that matters. Only real reason to get clean in RDO is for pictures/screenshots.

Now your Horse in Story and Online is a different issue. As much as this game forces you to calm down your horse, you should also take a moment while on horse back to brush the horse. While on horse back it's easier, just have to be going slow or stopped to use the brush. Once you select the brush, the animation and such is automated. Unlike when you stand next to the horse and use brush you have to use it a couple times to complete the job per-say. When your horse is left dirty, the health can start to lower over time for what appears to be no reason. Cause unless you have issues with your horse taking gun shots or has a bad fall or something like that, it normally takes quite a while for horse health to lower due to hunger alone.
