Yet another hacker...
Was having a chill time in RDO today.
Gathering collectibles and just watching AI doing their things...
Suddenly, another character, with my name, started teleporting to my location and killing me with an axe. I assumed trying to do any actions after the first death would break something if they used my name.

So I just completely ignored the hacker, and after 3-4 times he gave up and vanished.
Compared to other, more extreme hackers that teleports all the players to a location before blowing them all up, this felt like an everyday thing.

Have R* truly given up on trying to block these hackers, or have they even tried at all?

I dont even have a RDO character on PC, so i cant begin to imagine how bad it is. Iv been playing RDO on PlayStation since release and had a feeling this would be a persistent issue when it came to most R* titles, dating back to GTA IV. I think when hackers got a hold of the GTA V source code RDO and GTA V were affected by it, regardless of whether R* is willing to admit the issue. As far as i can see, don't expect any real fixes at all. They are working on a fix for GTA V, but its obvious R* is struggling to juggle so many live services, if it hasn't been evident enough over the last couple years.

I dont know what to tell you, play on a console sounds like a weird thing to say on steam.

Sadly yes they are focused on just GTA Online. They even said back in August I think that all development on RDO is over. Don't worry though, there is a solution for you, this solution will also allow you to play with just your friends. This link will show you how to create a meta file that will automate the process of port forwarding effectively and limit the people who can join you to just people with a file that matches you're exactly. Another fun thing about when you do this you'll stop encountering Unknown Error FFFFFFF because that's error is caused almost exclusively by modders crashing your game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFd2af8wINE

I do remember the chaos that followed GTA - San Andreas :P
So yeah, I assume that's the future for Red Dead, until the next version, if they even try to add a online version to that... Sadly, I can't stand console, so that's out of the question. I'm to much of a boomer to enjoy playing with controllers.

Yeah, I enjoy the random encounters to much to mod anything.
And funny detail, I switched from Vulkan to DirectX 12, and I haven't had the FFF error since! I also thought it was related to modders or whatever, but IMO it seems more like it's related to NVIDIA users having Vulkan activated + R* never fixed something related to that (we know how broken it was at the beginning)!

This is just a childish response IMO.

You go ahead and think what you want. I don't use cheats and i don't kill anyone that doesn't kill me first, hows that for childish.

Why did you even have to defend yourself?
That just makes me think you're using hacks, which I didn't before you wrote that...
Rockstar never cared about hackers since they only develop the single player which would be fine but they still have to crap out a multiplayer mode that is hacker infested from day one...

Well, obviously they had some good intentions from the start, since they took the time to develop it (costs and all that). I just assume they realized somewhere in the process that they couldn't do much more to it without going weird (thinking Will Smith and giant mechanical spiders) and with all that copyright stuff (cowboys vs aliens, and every other movie related to weird evolutions of the wild west) I just think they put it on a shelf until further notice or copyright loss that would make it cheaper to develop.
Sadly they're not working with any proper antihack either... The only "effective" version, is denuvo. But we all know what people think about that. EAC among other garbage anti-cheat stuff work as good as R*'s security in RDO :P

You can defer to my previous comment in the thread, that will give you a private friends only lobby that nobody else can join, it has no limitations in the activities you can do aside from the shootout modes that require you to queue with other people.

Or just go with RedM and all that :P

Often I check Who is in the server and what rank. Can be telling on whether you should change server at the start.
If I have a hacker I just relog at once.
I personally haven't had a lot of issues with them. But understand a lot of folks do

I tried Redm servers and so far they are a bit to Over the Top with their rules of Always be in character and How you should Always act in Every situation.
Such as waiting a half hour for a doctor to show up if they Ever do.
Until they get servers for folks just wanting to Cowboy around I won't even bother, rather deal with the hackers

It's no longer front page news, and TMZ gave up discussing it a long time ago. When you play RDO there is a high probability your playing will be disturbed. There is a thread that instructs how to play without any other players, it didn't work for me, my tech kung fu is weak. For the life of me, I don't understand why anyone wants to put up with that environment.

Best of luck.
