Go to Steam settings, go to shader pre-caching, you will see allow background processing of Vulkan shaders, it is disabled by default, enable that.
Then in your game go to options, it will default to the Vulkan API, you will want to switch this to the DX12 API, you will want to set Nvidia DLSS to enabled+boosted.
You will need to restart your game when you make these changes, you might have to do it once or twice to get the settings to stick.
Once they stick you are good to go, all these changes will solve the FFFFFFF error and this will solve the Video Memory leak that will also cause problems. Now if you are getting this error in RDO still even after making these changes then that is the product of a modder in your lobby crashing you and probably everyone in the lobby out as this is one of the go to ways to crash people, it's tied to an old camp theme that Rockstar took the ability to choose but it's still in the games code and therefor is exploitable, and the modders exploit it pretty often.
----------
No it has nothing to do with luck, if you go to Steam Settings, then Shader Pre-Caching, and enable background processing of Vulkan shaders, then in-game set Nvidia Reflex-Low Latency to Enabled+Boost, then set Nvidia DLSS to balanced, and use the DX12 API all the problems that exist from the latest update are worked around with these settings at least until Rockstar or Nvidia release a proper fix, neither of which is coming. The FFFFFF error caused by modders is tied to the wilderness camp theme that is still in the games code but not accessible by legitimate players, unless a modder is in your lobby and uses their wonderful mod menu to force that theme that is forcible because it's still in the games code thus causing the crash. If you want to call it luck fine but it isn't luck, I've tried to help you in every way that can I've told you everything I have done about a week ago to solve my FFFFFFF problem that shocker was coming from modders because once I removed other players from the equation all of my crashing mysteriously stopped, but it must be luck right. It's not my fault you'd rather just complain than work with any of the solutions I have provided. If you're plan is to wait for Rockstar to fix it then you'll just never play the game because they will not fix it, they have already confirmed that all updates for Red Dead Redemption 2/Red Dead Online are done, the only thing they will do from now on is turn the snow on in the winter time. Here's another little fun bit of information, the mos current go to mod menu that has guaranteed crash button in it's description as one of the things it can do has 5,000 confirmed owners of the mod menu. Given how small the active player base is for RDO you're going to always have a modder in your lobby no matter what.
Tried this and it still resets to Vulkan.
