Stuck in the first mission, the very start of the game

the very start of the mission where its snowy in between the mountains

some guy saying they need to stop or he gonna die

80% of time when I press skip the game is finished with "Micah has died" - I did not have a chance to move or do anything at all!

20% it finally goes through to playing character, except I can't do anything, the only button working is the MAP

I've tried multiple controllers and enable or disable "Steam Input" but no improvements

yes, but then I can't move the character when it moves to the 3rd view

update: online works, I can play perfectly online, move around and do anything with the character, single player still stuck!

I don't know if you're on foot, on a horse or on a wagon, you can have different control options for these in the menu's, things like "Horse Relative" or "Camera Relative" movement control.

Could it be that?

At the start someone does die but it isn't Micah, it was Davey. In fact, the next part of the game Arthur and Dutch ride off and find Micah. At the start of the game there are tutorial option at bottom of the screen you may have to do something first before you can continue. If you skipped you should be on a horse following Dutch to go find Micah. The only option you may have it the button/key to make the horse move.

that is clearly a glitch, You should be able to skip any cutscene. Are u using a cheat or mod or anything outside the game?

"Verify game files" was the solution

I didn't expect it since I had just finished to install it but immediately went through

How about like starting the mission from scratch with Keyboard + Mouse. And don't skip ANYTHING.

But yes this is a big game, anytime you finished downloading a game this big, doing the Verify is a must after that has completed.
