There is a way to sync your saves manually using Syncthing. This is a workaround that works for every game, including non-steam games and can also be used for your files, for example documents, pictures, movies, music, etc. Here are the steps you need to follow to sync your saves with Syncthing:
- Get Syncthing on the Steamdeck, under "Discover" in desktop mode
- Get Syncthing on your desktop PC. If you are using windows, I would recommend "SyncTrayzor" which has a slightly improved UI. Download and install it from here[github.com].
- Configure Syncthing on both devices to sync the folder containing the RDR2 save files. On PCGamingWiki[www.pcgamingwiki.com] you can read where the save data location is for any PC game. If you are lost using Syncthing, look up a tutorial on how to use it, but I find it's easy enough to understand, if you are familiar with using windows and steamdeck's filesystem.
- Configure additional Syncthing settings on your devices, for example, make sure it is enabled on startup and also I would disable "sync over the internet", so it only stays on your local network, but that is up to you.
- Then for the saves to sync, you just need to have Syncthing running on both your PCs at the same time (this means starting up desktop mode on the Steamdeck, as Syncthing will not run in game mode...)
This works for any game and isn't that hard to set up. It takes a bit of effort, but it's worth it imo for games you play a lot.
