Will ultimate work in Steam if I have it on Rockstar and buy the base game on Steam
I have RDR2 on Rockstar but am considering buying it on Steam so it works better and updates on the Steam Deck. Do I need to buy ultimate again or will that still work since it's using the same Rockstar launcher?

It should. Even if you buy it on STEAM you still need to go through the Rockstar Launcher to download the game. When I bought the game in 2019 I bought it right through the Rockstar Launcher. I'm hoping it will work that way hopefully because I would really like to try this on the STEAM Deck.

nope it downloads via steam like every other steam game, but the steam version still launches rockstar launcher to launch the game.

its nice having the steam overlay so you can google tips and crap about the game. Super handy in rdo when needing to find stuff on a map.

I bought ultimate edition on both rockstar, and Steam, so i wouldn't know if you still get the benefits, but if you have a saved game that you're currently playing then everything from utlimate should already be unlocked on that saved game file.

Online uses same account so should still have the ultimate features there too. Ultimate is so cheap now that i'd just buy it again rather than have any issues.

also a note, if you do rebuy on steam, the steam version will visually replace your original rockstar launcher version. You'll still have it on your rockstar account, but You'll have to to a complete wipe of rockstar launcher (registry files especially) and fresh install to get the original non steam version to show again.

there is a way to get it working on the steam deck without buying it again, but it's a pain and there are issues.

Does the standard edition eventually work with the features of the ultimate even if you bought the ultimate on rockstar?

I am also curious. I purchased on Rockstar when it first launched with the discount for buying on Rockstar, but am now considering buying it on Steam along with RDR1. I just need to know if I need to buy ultimate on Steam to maintain the ultimate content through the Steam download.

Are there any benefits to having both the Steam and Rockstar store versions?

I bought it on steam during some sale which made it much easier. No benefit I know of besides steam awards and steamdeck installation ease.

You get regular or ultimate? Also, which version did you have on Rockstar games launcher?
