Pearson’s stew: Gold cores?
What EXACTLY gives gold cores in Pearson’s camp stews?

I know that turning in perfect carcasses does it, but I was wondering if donating anything else contributes to the stew giving gold cores? Also, if all I care about is gold cores and nothing else, is it better to donate skinned carcasses and the individual items you get from them, or “whole” carcasses?

Three star animals have no affect on Pearsons stew.

The three stars reflect the quality of the pelt not the meat. If the meat was different you'd have one, two and three star meat from the same animal type in your satchel.

Quality meats like venison or big game are more important than stringy meats like badgers or squirrels but you can get gold cores without three star animals.

Keeping your camp cores golden and consistently bringing Pearson 3 Star carcasses will earn you gold cores from his stew. You can skin them first for the pelt and then turn in the carcasses. It doesn’t matter whether you skin or not.

So when you’re on your way back to camp from a mission, it’s a good idea to keep a look out for 3 star animals on the way back.

The hint is when you first get to Horseshoe and Pearson tells you he needs fresh meat every day.

Thanks! I just Googled for a list of how meat quality is ranked and found this article:

https://www.gtabase.com/red-dead-redemption-2/guides/red-dead-redemption-2-hunting-guide-tracking-animals-meat-quality-types

But to sum it up here, I'll copy and paste the best qualities here:

High Quality Meat
  • Prime Beef: High quality meat from animals like Cows and Buffalo
  • Mature Venison: Cuts of high quality Deer meat
  • Tender Pork: Succulent, filling meat from animals such as Javelina and Pigs
  • Game: Meat from game such as Rabbits, Pheasants and Ducks
  • Succulent Fish: Fillet of high quality fish like Salmon and Trout
  • Exotic Bird: Meat from rare birds such as Parrots, Pelicans and Carolina Parakeets
Best Quality Meat
Big Game: Meat from large predators such as Bears, Wolves and Alligators

Gator is big game and they lay there begging for an improved arrow to the skull - then cook with Thyme - Gold Cores All Day Long.

The question is about the quality of the stew.
