Trader Roles
I am new to online and I bought the butcher bench for my camp. My question is: It say's I can do a resupply for $20.00 or steal for the mission.

Okay what is better. It seems when I steal the supplies do not get very much product.

How much supplies do I get if I buy the supplies?

You are encountering a bug where it keeps saying that you need to resupply. One resupply should be enough. Relocating the camp should fix it, also you should do the resupplies since they are a good source of trader xp

the supply runs are separate from donating parts. also, you can do a local trade as soon as you have 25 goods. each trade is 25 goods

That might explain. It seems I only got 6 goods to sale when I did a supply run. Then the business would come to a halt. Giving me the option to either buy or steal. I thought to myself, OMG this is going to take all my time online just getting the supplies.

You donate materials, lika carcasses (unskinned) to Cripps.
You also have supplies.

If you have both Materials and Supplies this will, given enough time, be created into products.
If one of these 2 runs out, you either have to donate materials like carcasses again or do a supply run (or buy it).

Personally, i'd always do a supply run, as it gives quite a chunk of XP.
So unless you are fully leveld and/or have enough money and find it a nuissance, then you could buy supplies.

This is a text box example of spend money to make money.
Just buy it for $20. You'll need to Resupply every 25 Goods made. NO. The XP from the Resupply is NOT WORTH IT. Donating 10 feathers gives more Trader XP.

Use the time you would have spent doing the Resupply doing ANYTHING else. Stranger Missions, Dailies, Treasure Map Hunting, Bounties or Moonshine.

Um... i just got 700 XP by a resupply mission, that is not the same as donating 10 feathers.

140 Donations to Creeps. The point I'm trying to make is your time is better spent not doing the Resupply Mission. There is a good chance you fail it because of some crazy reason. Like a hole in the tank emptied all of the chemicals. As a brand new player I want GOLD. I can get Gold from Stranger Missions while Creeps is making Goods.

This brings in an interesting Meta. Normally you want 3* carcasses to get the supply bar up faster. You could also just give Creeps tons of small things that don't fill the bar but give Trader XP.

The resupply missions don't take long normally. They're done in a few minutes, riding included. So it's not like you spent huge amounts of time on them.
So running around, skinning animals takes probably longer than doing one single resupply mission and that one gives you way more xp in the same time.
Especially in the beginning, that's worth a lot.

and a trader too? You are easy prey.

Make sure you read up on all the tips and tricks cause you will eventually find yourself losing everything on a supply run.

You need thick skin for a newb trader role. If you rage easily..well, like I said make sure you do your research of what you may encounter, lol

Beware running Resupply Missions if in New Austin. The Game makes it seem like it's close but doesn't account for major elevation difference that require going slow to not fall off.

5 rushed minutes of mission is still 5 minutes of Creeps not making Goods. Running a Trade every 37-42 minutes was better than 45-54 minutes even at lower levels.

I also forgot that annoying Hunt Resupply Mission you get time to time. Maybe it's better now that Animal spawns are "fixed" but F that sh!t.

You can easily stick to local deliveries. While it does make a bit less money, you're safe from other human players who might fight you.

I'm not quite sure as I'm also new to the game, but if you decide to steal the supplies then you'll also add materials to your camp that will gain you profit/XP. So I would think stealing the supplies would be better.
