[RDO] Do you still need to run out the timer?
So I've just started playing Red Dead Online, and I saw some "beginners guide" videos that said that during stranger missions and bounty hunter missions, you need to wait until the last 30 seconds of the timer to complete them, to get much more gold and money.

But those videos are over 4 months old.
Is this still the case, or did the change it in an update?
Especially with stranger missions, I often have 8-12 minutes left, which is a lot of time to just run out the clock.

Since it makes more sense to me to reward players who do those things quickly, I wonder if anything has changed.

Ye, waiting 30s before end of mission to get MAX profit is still here. Imo stupid idea, it should be the other way- quickest players should get better rewarded, making game more dynamic. Right now I see ppl wait to get max profit and it's boring. I dont do it myself.

The philosophy behind it could be that without the last few second bonus, too many people would give up thinking they couldn't get in under the time limit. The way it is, there's an incentive to go for it even if it seems hopeless.

I would never suggest a blanket 'wait until 30 seconds'.
As the reward is based on the time spent in the mission, not the time remaining on the timer.

Gold payouts increase by 0.04 every 3 minutes up until 12 minutes, and then at 15 minutes, and each 5 minutes after that, there is diminishing returns so it's best to stop right at 12 minutes if you're after gold.
If the timer doesn't allow for 12 minutes, then stopping right after 9 minutes would be the next best option.

Going with the 'wait until 30 seconds' could see someone waiting another couple minutes for no increase to the gold payout.
Thanks for the wise answer, sir. I only ever wait until the last 30 seconds if I have >4-5 minutes left on the timer. It means I've spent enough time anyways.

this isn't true, I waited the timer down, same amount of money, no difference, who ever made that lie up is a just trying to waste time

I did read about it but as others never played by those rules. The faster the bounty is turned in, the faster I can engage into another money making activity.

Still it's all good info to know for the bounty hunters out there; you each decide how much is worth your time, partner!
the money is the same but as for gold and xp its exactly like taran said, its about time spent and not the time remaining on the timer.

If you want to wait the time out, theres always something to do during these dead time, usually loot for valuable and collectables with metal detector, you can even find legendary animals, hunt, if you do it often youll learn where all the collectables are in the cities and it helps pass some of that timer

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
