How to have a fishing rod?

Hi, I read that i need to unlock a quest wwith the child to have the fishing rod and to trigger that I have to do the Pouring Forth Oil – Part I.

I have done quite a lot of mission in chapter 2, including the one where you go to Valentine with the girls, delivered Sean, unlock selling coach, Good, Honest, Snake Oil" etc... but still, john don't suggest me to go for Pouring Forth Oil – Part I.

Is there a bug with this mission triggering? If yes how do you fish then ?

EDIT : Just read somewhere that it can unlock after "Paying a social call" and not only after Good, Honest, Snake Oil, gonna try that

I want it too. Done most of the quests as well..We cant even buy it at the store until we reach level 14 and purchase the Fishing Rod for $32.50
I can use the bow.
We could cheat and kill a fishing man for the rod but I dont want to do that.

To start the quest “A Fisher of Men“. you will have to start a conversation with the Abigail – it is during this conversation that you will pick up the mission: A Fisher Of Men. Your objective will be to take Abigail’s son Jack for fishing.
2 guides if it helps you they helped me still havent got it yet. How do you find out what level Arthur is?

Yep, you need to complete the Kieran mission first.

That's only in Online. Arthur unlocks the rod after the mission with Jack.

I can't even find Abigail in camp. There is no marker for her and I finished Paying a Social Call which some web sites say is the prerequisite.

It is pretty much at the end of chapter II when you unlock it. Just keep doing missions until the one pops up in camp to do from Abigail.
