Or

With out anything in your hands(gun/camera) and near horse Aim at horse choose Feed.

If you bought it via the catalogue you need to collect it via the camp mailbox or at any post office around the map. If you bought it via the stable then it's already with you and you just need to cycle the horse food via TAB then using scroll or Q and E.

You may save a lot of money by NOT buying food for your horse, collect it in the wild.

Ya the horse pamphlets that let you make horse items are way better then buying food. Google them and save your money for more lenny time.

What does each horse edible do outside of what I see for cores/bars? Not sure which halfa$$ tip it was but something about what I feed the horse determines stats. Is there hidden values? Can I feed a horse speed buffing food vs endurance buffing food?

All I noticed is more food = more sh!t.

Horse pamphlets.

Buy them or find them, then you collect stuff in the wild, go to campfire, make horse items.

There's ones that give you gold cores and ones for gold circles for your horse like for your Playable character in the game.

carrots. That's all I've found I need for Barney. They are dirt cheap. Load up on them at any store in the east. Out west, stores don't have 'em.

Walk more often horse will follow and pickup herbs, fresh wild carrots and many other herbs growing in the wild. Berries . Horse will eat them. I cant select which to give so he gets what I have.
There is also the stables buy hay sugar cubes and other things store has apples and clerey and other fruits.
Everytime you find mint or herbs on the nap it gets marked.
Horse doesnt need much food so far from my experiences with it.

Different herbs will boost horse health & / or stamina.
After a certain Lvl (online) you can pick herbs, carrots, fruit whlist saddled.

Fill you saddlebags with fruit, herbs, carrots and sell to the Dr to earn good cash.
