when does the real game start?
christ almighty I feel like I've been walking through the snow and listening to these inane conversations between and about characters I don't care about for HOURS.

Why does the game open with such a dull set piece? When do I get to go exploring? I have trouble believing that this is the game putting its best foot forward.

You are stuck in the snow for years. My least favorite part is the Snowman Challenge 5. Ugh. I'll never beat that one.

You haven't even played 2 hours according to your profile.

If it's bothering you at this stage, I'd say refund it. This game involves a lot of story revolving around the characters - it's basic stuff - you learn about them and grow to "care" about them as you go through the game.

If you're going out of your way to moan about it with 1.8 hrs on record then you're not going to like the rest of the game
I also quite hate the fact that there were a lot hand holding at the start, like I cannot even control where my character goes

but it gets much better

The intro sequence only last 30 to 45 minutes at most. Once you get to Horseshoe overlook do missions until you free Micah from Jail and then the game world really opens up and you can explore to your hearts content.

If you just wanna skip all this look up a save file with the intro skipped, one is available from the mod Nexus for RDR2.

Just grab the save games from nexus mods as stated above, personally I think the game does take a while for progress but the overall atmosphere of the game is engrossing and I usually shun stories in games and skip them but with RDR2 I was fascinated

It's a really good story, I enjoyed the slow slog through it all but I can see how the gameplay isn't for everyone. It's a shame they let multiplayer die

dude theres no such thing as a game that doesn't work on my PC. heck my pc is usually the one that works when all others cry. Its the most stable pc ever built. I seriously have thick antistatic pads so my motherboard doesnt flex when installing the cpus and ram before mounting the motherboard. I update my bios. I use hwinfo to ensure my NVME's and stuff are running on their correct interfaces. I ensure my ram is in dual channel XMP modes. I keep my windows updated

my youtube channel is nothing but hundreds of videos of obscure weird old games that many people cannot get to run at all

This is rockstars blunder. And also steams blunder for allowing multiple layers of DRM to be present

"Why doesn't Rockstar do anything about it?

Sporadic issues like race conditions are the most difficult issues to investigate. Because multi-threaded software runs on so many hardware configurations it is fairly difficult to write a program which works fine not only on all current hardware but also on future hardware.

This issue is starting to affect more and more people as newer CPU's are so powerful that the race condition bug reproduces more and more often.

After a fair number of people complain to their support, this issue will be brought to the attention of the developers."

EDIT - for context the link might be your solution, and an explanation of what you're dealing with - also ur pc flexing is funny
