More stable space?
Im aware that in online, you have the option to purchase more stable space but im curious if anybody knows if there is a mod that allows more horse space in story mode? Ive seen quite a few reddit posts with no replies, so im assuming there isnt, so at this point i suppose im just curious why. Im not a mod creator but i cant imagine taking a feature from online and porting it to story mode would be too challenging.

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated!

I have tried to learn how to create mods for rdr2. Through some script hooking, modders have done pretty cool things but to my limited knowledge and just following some tutorials it seems they rely on cracked hashed names of native functions? Meaning that names of the functions that the game uses are hashed and are just gibberish, somehow the smart guys figured out what some of them did and could use them to do stuff. But so far, in the database of known native functions, nothing points to being able to manipulate stable properties/attributes. So I'm guessing that's why no one has been able to make a mod such as this. Which is the whole reason I'm trying to learn how to make mods!

Such a bummer, but I already knew I was not going to succeed when no one has done it yet and I don't even know how it works lol. I hope my explanation of how the scripting works is so bad that someone who knows what's what can correct me here and provide a better answer!

Rockstar you gave us so many horses in game, but not enough stable space!!!!!!!!!!

Having 4x level 4 bonded horses isn't enough?

I stopped caring about that once I learned early on I can have more then 1 horse at a time. Once you put them in the stables, you'd be limited to taking one out, then have to bond with another horse again to have your 2nd horse follow you around, etc. Comes in handy since Story Mode doesn't have Hunting Wagon.

its not that its not enough to have 4 max bonded..... its the fact that when you have that, and your out and about and see a really cool horse, you simply cant have it. Giving up a horse is impossible for some players, as we just want to have one of every coat! lol. Us horse fanatics can never have enough horses.

I recently found out that in the real "wild west" the genuine cowboys (not even close to most movie-cowboys) owned at least three or four, but sometimes up to ten (10) different horses.

For instance:
One for travelling long distances.
One for chasing and lassoing calves.
One for rounding up cattle.
One for "slow sustained" herding and transporting big numbers of cattle.
One for high speed.
and replacement-horses for exhausted or wounded ones.

So four stable-places is a very realistic depiction in the game, although I also would have liked more room for extra horses.

Yea I get it though. I mean it's as if Rockatar did not plan this well enough. You can have 10 I think it is in RDO, why not the same within Story Mode. It really makes no sense. Plus if you wish to complete the Compendium properly, you will eventually need to take the time to do a level 4 bond with each available horse breed.

When I started this on PC here's how I went about it all. Ultimate Edition gives you a free horse (Thoroughbred) and while it's good to have early on, it quickly becomes rather mute by Chapter 3 or so. Anyways so I used that horse for most of Chapter 2. Getting him to a level 4 bond helps with the Compendium. I then get White Arabian from the northern snow area near the frozen lake. I keep a stable slot for that one. But with the White Arabian I have a specific strategy. I level it up and use it for its speed. My goal with it is to sell to Horse Fence which doesn't unlock until much later in the game. Once I sell the White Arabian I go grab another to do it all over again. I eventually sell the Thoroughbred back but it doesn't gain any money back since it was free to get. Anyways this leaves me with 1 used stable slot for the White Arabian. 2 of the other slots I will use for basically any Horse I might want to keep for a while or take my time to get a level 4 bond with. I try my best to leave the 4th Stable slot open just in case.

When I'm spending time out and about giving cool down between missions I do my open world exploring, hunting, etc. When I'm doing that I go find another horse breed I have not had yet (wild horse find) and go grab one of those and level 1 bond with it so it will follow me around as a temporary horse. I do this with most of the horses in the game so I can level 4 bond with them but have no intention of keeping. Saving game often is a must here so you don't lose that progress.

The only time I buy horses is if you need one for Compendium and it might be hard to find in wild or grab otherwise. For example it's hard to get Dutch Warmblood unless you steal one from Law Enforcement.

You also don't need every flavor of breed in order to complete Compendium. Just need 1 Rare, 1 Uncommon, and having done level-4 bond with one within that breed.

If you have a hoarding problem, when you sell a horse use the Enter key.

I accidentally deleted all my horses. Now I have no emotional attachment to my current ones, I can sell them now :D

Rachel though..... gotta keep her right? I like to keep Rachel and Buell (even though he can be a pain) and i like having my trotter and turk..... boom, 4..... now let me go collect the 3 main arabians; black, white and red..... go grab the brindle from strawberry, and ride out to new austin for the tiger striped.

Thats my starter set lol.... i also like a few paint and apaloosa coats.... along with the blue nakota....... i want all of these xD

Well this is not Cowboy Life Sim.
This is I'm in a gang and on the run, only need one or two really good horses.

Maybe someone could make a mod if have not already that basically could provide like 20 slots or something at all the Stables.

I still don't understand why Rockstar made it so limited in Story compared to Online. We don't need to see all our horses standing in stalls in the stable. Just have it swap them in/out in the main area where you see the stable-master standing, etc.

You'd think they would have had a way to buy or upgrade your available space. Like how GTA has different garage sizes and such.

One idea for a stable mod is by making each stable its own thing, which allows one to store 3 horse in each stable which lets someone have 22 horses, 3 in each of the 7 stables and 1 being riden
Bad 💀 Motha May 26, 2023 @ 7:12pm
Yea having all the Stables be shared is rather dumb considering you can easily Fast Travel all over this game map and such.
Elphame_Gold May 27, 2023 @ 1:04pm
I love the idea of having each stable be its own space. It would add a touch of realism if the horses remained at the stable we left them at.
