Why can I not catch Legendary Fish
I have tried everything. I've looked at every guide I can find. Where to stand exactly, what lure to use, what bait to use, what weather to wait for. I've tried fishing from exactly where I was when the legendary notification popped up. I've tried for several hours to catch a couple of them. Nothing. Never even hooked one of them. What in the world is up.

No you haven't.

A legendary notification is a general area, not an exact spot.

Equally did you ever check your compedium for the best way to find or attract the fish you're looking for?

A bit of Eagle Eye can also help, ever tried that?

You'll get there mate, but you haven't tried everything. :)

No you haven't.

As I said, I followed every guide and tip. I tried fishing for the Legendary Gar in overcast weather from the exact spot several people showed on a map, I used both the swamp and river lure as people claimed one was better than the other for the legendary gar specifically. I used crayfish. I used worms. I used crickets. I used cheese just for the hell of it. I cannot hook it. I only catch bluegill and sturgeon. Probably three hours spent on that one specifically.

I have done this with several others. None of them ever bite.

I updated my post as you were posting, it's also important that you realise just like animals some fish are easier to find at particular times of day.

Yes I have caught many fish. Just none of them legendary.

I have waited for specific times of day and or weather as people suggest for each fish. Never makes a difference.

Well mate you've done it all and tried it all and now you can officially be claimed as the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fisherman the world or the internet has ever known.

Just an after thought, have you tried baiting the hook?

You can't catch legenday fish until you meet Jeremy Gill and buy special lures to catch them with.

Whenever you are trying go after any Legendary, usually they have a time length within the day where they "might" appear. Before that time period comes around, you want to be outside of its general spawn area. Once you trip that time of day, then turn and look away from its general spawn area and move in the opposite direction for a minute. Then turn and come back into its spawn area and hopefully it will actually spawn in.

I think this must have been it. Finally caught the Bluegill. I can't say for certain that I was keeping the fish from spawning by staying in the area because I wasn't paying attention to that aspect of my methodology before but as soon as I tried running away from the immediate area and looping back and casting again, I caught the legendary bluegill immediately.

Just like how after you grab a Gold Bar that can respawn you need to turn the other way and then get some distances away. Treat legendary in the same manner. Si.ply based on how the spawn system works in this game.

It's difficult to miss a fish as big as your horse that glows and flashes like a Neon Sign.
