Arrow or 'R' to 'Horse'
Feed Horse one (or more) of the Horse Food Items you have in your satchel.
Easy.
Note:
There is no Story Mission wherein you stock up on Horse Food Items. You have to stop playing Story Missions in order to pick up some Horse Food Items. There is no Story Mission wherein you upgrade your Satchel to carry more than 3 wild carrots. There is no Story Mission wherein you can stop and pick Wild Carrots. There is no Story Mission wherein you go to the stable and buy 3 Hay (that'll be gone in 10 minutes).
Hay fills up the horse so does wild carrots so does oatcakes I think the others ... beets, celery etc. not so much ...
I try to feed my horse always before entering a stable then I buy 3 hay knowing the horse is full instead of going into the stable with a hungry horse buying 3 hay then exiting and feeding it ...
Again, this simple concept is something that should have been explained in detail in a manual
For example,
In camp, when an NPC is about to interact with me.
The previous horse activity, like brushing, hasn't completed yet (even though the animation is done - pathetically frustrating - ty R*).
I am not standing in the right position.
But i have noticed that horse feeding seems to have become more buggy recently, in that it doesn't always go off when selected (even though allowed and not greyed out) - i need to sometimes reset my position and try again.
oh - you also cannot feed a horse that you have not bonded with yet - you need at least bonding level 1 to feed , which can be achieve by saddling (instant), or riding/petting/claming
is that maybe it ?
That doesn't sound right - I mean I pack that Dark Bay Braithwaite Turk with sugar cubes until I get a level one bond - then go over later and whistle him to me. Maybe that only works on that Turk, but I kinda doubt it.
For example if in the middle of calming/petting; actions to feed yourself, your horse or brush you horse might be grayed out. That's because you are still in the middle of doing something.
This is so simple to understand and grasp, yet people struggle with it like its a game issue. No it's a YOU issue. Learn how game mechanics work.
