Finally finished! My complaints... (SPOILERS) included!

Ok... Finally!

362 hours later and I'm at 94%. I still have painted caves, some legendary animals and fish to finish in New Austin, the compendium and a few other random things to complete my 100%.

So, it's been quite a roller coaster up til now! Thanks R*! (Sarcasm)

I didn't like the way the story line missions weren't in line with the way I developed my Arthur character. I kept my Honor high and did what was necessary to survive. Tried to keep in line morally by not killing and robbing common folk citizens... only those who attacked me or other outlaw gangs in free roam (O'Driscolls, Raiders etc.). I was also extremely loyal and devoted to the camp and the gang.

Dutch's constant high, searching for that one big score was getting very aggravating! The story line "Big Score" heists being planned that only netted 2,000.00 or 3,000.00 dollars was comical! While, I myself through hunting, selling wagons at the fence, bounty hunting, looting gang members bodies, missions, side missions and wild horse selling, brought nearly $60,000.00 to the camp. And Dutch would say, "We need more money!" only to set up a job that got us $800.00. Uhhh, HELLO!!

I get it. It's scripted! Then the game should have put a cap on the camp donation amount, or how much money Aurthur could horde at any one time. Maybe, above $1,000.00 and he would get robbed while he slept in his camp or on the road. R* is notorious for allowing cut scenes where you get robbed by kids, while removing all character control and forcing you to watch!

So, I loved the game but am not a fan of the story path that it forced you to go down. It was almost scripted as chaos and tragedy for the sake of chaos and tragedy. Why did we do those heists in Chapter 6, when Dutch had the money in the cave under the wagon? It's rhetorical and I'm not looking for an answer... Again, I get it... It's scripted!

After Chapter 6, the 2 Epilogues were kind of the same.

What was up with Abigail? She was kind of a _____ ! Didn't she understand that the things happening to John, weren't his fault or doing? At first, the problems came to him. It was annoying to watch!

Also, when John buys Beecher's Hope and builds the new ranch... I almost immediately went inside to check it out. I went into every room and in the crawl space. It wasn't even a day old and there were spill stains all over the floors and garbage and clutter as if I was walking through Shady Belle... WHHAAAAT?! Come on man!!! Really?

And of course, Arthur losing the horse and then ultimately dying... NOT a fan!

I realize I'm Monday morning quarterbacking, but R* dragged me through this emotional hell hole. So, blame them!

The Story:
It's a good story. A melodramatic tragedy. Shakespeare started writing those - a long time ago - and they're still very popular.

Less Story = More Game
Now you've seen the movie - only use it to get things you need - then abandon it again until you need it.

If it's the mod, which one was it?

I read that it was called like RDR2 Nightmare or something.

I use these and I can say they do not break the game, make playing it a much more enjoyable experience and allow Arthur anywhere on the map at any time. I have them heavily tested at this point. They require 13 files to be placed in the Game Directory with RDR2.exe. They are easy to add and easy to delete (providing you know which files you added - keep them in a folder - copy from the folder - match files when you want to delete them, and you will need to delete them when the game updates. You'll need a new Script Hook, just like everybody else):

I would guess the Native Trainer Reskinned.

I originally started with the Hunting Wagon mod, but eventually settled and got comfortable with the Rampage mod.

I guess I can create 2 savegames and use the savegame editor to change one of them to see what it's like!

No. Standard Trainer exactly as described.

What you're talking about requires altering game files.
You're on your own.
I don't alter game files.

Horror Stories abound.
Get good at removing anything you install if you swim in uncharted waters.
About 1000 people can't play the game right now, thanks to Lenny and Company. I'd put Rampage firmly in that category.

Again - uncharted by this skipper.
I sail close to land.
I may need to swim ashore at some point.

Make sure you leave a trail of breadcrumbs.
Make sure you can always get back to a Vanilla Game.
Otherwise - when the game updates you'll be dead in the water.

So, I did use the savegame editor to switch John to Arthur. Very weird though, his eyes are almost closed and what eyes you could see looked like they were rolling back into his head!

It must have been using the sick Arthur... because when interacting with peds, like the owner of a general store or the post office clerk, they are constantly asking me if I feel alright or if I have the flu. Very frustrating.

I then downloaded the Young Clean Arthur mod (YCA). He looks better but I still get harassed by peds about my health. (Sigh) Oh well...
