specific crash during "Advertising, The New American Art"

i'm trying to get through the mission "Advertising, The New American Art", so i can advance the plot. however, whenever i get off the wagon after making it over to the saloon, my game just completely closes out. i went back and did all the other main story content i could, so now it's just this mission barring me from advancing. i've tried lowering the graphics settings as well as completely restarting my pc, but the crash still happens. its super frustrating because whenever it crashes, i have to take the wagon all the way to braithewait manor, and then all the way to the rhodes saloon, only to see it crash again as i get off the wagon.

does anyone know anything i can do to fix this? i haven't had any crashes in any other part of the game, just this specific instance of getting off the wagon in this mission.

I know this might sound nuts mate and I'm just chucking it out there as a semi lifeline.

In a particular quest for me some boats wouldn't spawn or appeared to sink without resurfacing that killed the quest.

I had always relied on and checked my graphics settings in the menu before the game rather than in the game and then checking the menu/settings.

I was amazed to find my graphics settings way up in the red.

Try checking your settings near this part of the mission.

thanks yall, i verified my game files plus messed with my graphics settings a bit more (i had actually seen the video memory go into the red before, but i lowered the graphics and it seemed to fix the memory issue, but it was still pretty laggy. it was just laggy and looked like ♥♥♥♥ now lmao. but i changed them to basically just turn off motion blur and lower water settings so now it looks good and runs pretty ok) and i managed to get through the mission! thank god

If you've got a Nvidia graphics card you can visit their page to optimise your settings for your card and the game.

Anyway, glad to hear you're making progress.

When you play Story Mode, it helps to have the in-game VSync and Triple Buffering on Enabled. This helps to properly sync the FPS + Animations with cut-scenes. However, be sure you are not over-riding these with settings from your GPU Control Panel; such as whatever NVIDIA or AMD offers for GPU related settings in your OS. The only over-ride in relation to these you'd maybe want to use is enabling FreeSync or GSync if you have a supporting Display for those.

If you play mainly RDO, then you don't need the in-game VSync or Triple Buffering enabled at all.
