You're not Hunting for Cripps in the Trader Role.
Collector, to me: is like Working for Algernon Wasp 24/7/365.
I like Algernon, and Madam Bizarre is soooo easy to look at, but I'm glad when Algernon's work is done. The problem is Madam Bizarre's work is NEVER done.
Use the super-duper map:
https://jeanropke.github.io/RDR2CollectorsMap/
Be a Trader First and Part Time Collector.
When they randomized the Collector Items - they tanked the role, unless you LOVE working for Algernon Full Time.
You are not doing anything wrong, Its just Rockstar that troll's when ever possible.
It used to be so the coins was in set locations with no doubles and the collection was easy to gain all. but...Rockstar being rockstar had to make changes.
Course sometimes even the hard one, is not all that hard. But R* tends to give $ and RP bonus for the hard and legendary ones.
Bounty Double Payout Month is ending? Is that right?
Hope that rolls around to Trader again. I got in during that and the money was just stupid easy. I pigged out, Man...lol
But even with an ongoing rdo or service problem, it's quite easy for them to make changes to featured playlist and those types of events. Double or Triple rewards is a simple on/off switch for them to do.
I bought Collector for:
The Saddle and The Saddlebag (7 Outfits - WoooHoo).
I ranked it all the up by doing - nothing special:

Hunting both animals and plants I spend a lot of time in Eagle Eye. When something was near - I picked it up. That's about all the effort I put into it. I ranked up at least a level each day for doing nothing much.
I do like watching her dance tho.
;)
Wow you don't have Moonshiner or Bounty Hunter; your really missing out for sure.
No... I stay busy, am not in a hurry, I'm kinda old and can't sit here for longer than 3 hours. It's all I can do to keep Cripps working efficiently and get those goods to market when they need to go.
If I start doing something else Cripps will be sat on his ass all day and we ain't havin' any of that!
:D
I'll get around to Moonshiner one of these days.
Bounty Hunter too.
I haven't done any more story missions than the 3 needed to open up the game.
Much like Story Mode - there's no rush, is there?
In between Trade wagon and Moonshine deliveries I can also go complete a Bounty or two.
Only time I visit Harriet is when I need alot more sedative ammo. Sure you can craft it but Poppy is not easy to come by. Or maybe if I see she has a Mission to sample a Legendary that I might need or never done before.
This does cure that problem instantly, is easy to do - and easy to get rid of, also in an instant:

When you KNOW the session you're in won't have any griefers or hackers in it there is a certain charm about it - until you realize you kinda miss the griefers and hackers...lol
Nope. It's been patched to randomize higher value sets since people were aBuSiNg it too much. My guy out here flashing his 20 thousand dollars like it's a major deal when collectors are clearly are (and have been for a long time) into the millions of dollars and beyond.
I got 4k hours in RDO and i'll say between collector and trader, i played collector 60% to trader 40%. Trader just keeps you topped up, same as moonshiner. All the fast travelling required eats into your earnings, while collector outweighs trader by miles due to the ability to sell individual items as well as sets, and is why they nerfed tf out of the role in general. "Oh no! An online loot map! How did we not think of such an eventuality when we made designed the role!?" /s Their penchant for being ballbusters knows no bounds.
I played for weeks collecting all 265 items across the map, so that includes the snow too. My arrowheads and coins are still at tier 3 but my fossils are at tier 8, just through perseverance of hunting them. From what i've noticed, certain daily cycles will replenish lower amounts of collectibles you have in your satchel. It's still random, but certain days seem to offer lower % drops than other more obvious ones, such as rough arrowheads or bivalve fossils. I can't seem to sell those fast enough since their loot pool is much higher.
Me either, but I'm using it today. Solo. It's Treasure Hunting Day. I have a glut of Maps and FFFFFFFF has forced me to go get them... darn.
;)
BTW: My paltry $20K means I don't even notice the cost of Fast Travel. I think I can afford it.
If you keep getting this errors in public sessions, use the private session startup.meta trick
Also that has helped me because I don't get delays in the R* "processing transaction" thing when I sell a ton of stuff to various NPC stores like Butcher and Doctor. In public sessions it seems like after I quickly sell around 20 loose items I then have to wait like 30 secs or some BS for each transaction to complete.
I think I'm done with the Doctor though as I completed the thing where you sell 1000 items to Doctor 10 times. Should have me a good pay day soon as I can get back on RDO, as I just completed each of the Collector sets but have yet to cash them in as I was busy trying to grab stuff quick to fill up 100 item trade wagon. After that my Moonshine wagon should be ready.
