Output Adapter 0 or 1
I noticed that in the graphics settings there is something called ''output adapter'' with two settings, 0 and 1.

I've been playing with setting 0 which gives me 3071MB of video memory, yes I don't have the most beefy computer but it's doing its job fairly well! And now if I would turn the output adapter setting to 1, it claims to be able to give me 664664MB of video memory.

Without yet enabling this setting, it says that my RDR2.exe is using 2469MB of video memory while other apps are using 657161MB of video memory. THAT IS A LOT!

What does this exactly mean, and which setting is better?

Isnt performance a bit better when playing full screen vs windowed?

You're correct, it would be better but it really depends on the game. In RDR2 for example I can imagine that you could squeeze out some more FPS from fullscreen mode, especially if you'd only be running the game in windowed mode.

I've already tried everything and nothing, the full screen is really not complete, it seems the resolution and the frequency are locked when I choose my graphics card RX 6800m

Locked where?

I don't think this is right, for me at least. My Adaptor 0 has 4066mb Vram, and runs the game at 75fps, it must be my RTX 3060. But Adaptor 1 has 7000mb Vram but runs the game at 10fps, which must be my onboard intel or AMD (I forget which, the sticker is gone and I never use it anyway) but how come it says my onboard card has 2000mb more Vram than my rtx3060??? And why is my setting back to front, 1 being bad and 0 being good??

I noticed that when I select my 4070 (option 1) I only have 1080p as the max. Plus it started in the top left corner (“windowed”). Is this normal?

Double check this while GPU-Z app is running in background, in GPU-Z if it shows any other GPU, there should be a drop down menu at the very bottom of the app, select your NVIDIA GPU, then click the Sensors tab. If the game is using the NVIDIA GPU, you should be able to clearly tell from that sensors tab. If it appears to mostly be idle, then it's using your Onboard GPU.

1920x1080 being the max available within the game settings wil depend on whether or not the game is set to any kind of Windowed mode vs Full Screen. However full screen should be avoided in this game since it only allows for Exclusive Full Screen, which means the game could crash at random if you press WINKEY or ALT+TAB out while the game is loaded into the game world.

If you are using a Display that allows for a higher screen res, then set your OS Desktop to that higher screen res before launching the game, so you can run the game at the higher screen res & refresh rate while having the game set to Borderless Window mode.

You shouldn't have to change it manually via the Settings.XML
Configure it in WinOS.
Graphics Settings > Browse > navigate to RDR2 game folder.
Add PlayRDR2.exe and RDR2.exe to this list.
Change both of their Options to High Performance GPU.

Done.
Now run the game.

I don't see the 0 and 1 setting on my output adapter, there is only a 0 option.
And yes, I have two graphics cards and I am a laptop user.
Frankly, I had zero problems playing before, and there were 0 and 1 options as well.
Then what happened suddenly started showing my 4 GB video card as 8 GB and fps dropped to 13-15.
No matter what I did, I couldn't change the output adapter. I even tried system.xml, but when I enter the game, the output adapter appears as 0 again and I cannot change it.
Please help!

It's a setting within the Settings.XML file that the game created after launching and exiting the game properly.

With Win10/11 you not need to worry about that. Simply go to Graphics Settings in WinOS and add PlayRDR2.exe and RDR2.exe to that listing and select High Performance GPU for both.

Launch Steam via Run As Admin

Launch Rockstar Launcher via Run As Admin

Launch RDR2 from Rockstar Launcher

Once at in-game main menu, configure Settings such as Display, Audio and Graphics at the very least setting your native screen res and apply then exit the game and wait a minute then relaunch it. Make your Graphics settings changes while in main menu, not loaded into the game world. To verify a decent FPS range with your Graphics settings, after you apply changes, run the in-game benchmark which is within Settings > Graphics > hold down X key. On the following prompt press Enter key. Let the benchmark load. It only takes roughly 4-5 minutes to complete and give you the final results. If you'd like more detailed results those get stored as log files within; Documents > Rockstar Games > Red Dead Redemption 2 > Benchmarks

i have a problem with the output 1, it has more memory so i tried switching from 0 to 1 but everytime i switch my fps drops from 60 to 5 (i have 60 fps when playing on adapter 0 and 5 fps when i switch to 1 )which i find bizzare since output 1 option has much more memory to use

Ok the way RDR2 does it might be reversed. But overall users should never have to force the adapter #. Instead do this...delete tbat system.xml file for the game settings, then click startmenu or press WINKEY and type Graphics amd click on Graphics Settings. In there click Browse and navigate to your RDR2 game install folder and add PlayRDR2.exe and RDR2.exe to this list. Once added change their Options to High Performance GPU. Then, for that game it should always use the dedicated GPU

why are there only 3 resolution options for adapter 1 and why wont fullscreen work no matter what
Bad 💀 Motha 26/nov./2024 às 18:35
Full Screen works, until you press Winkey or ALT TAB it automatically switches to Borderless which is fine. Then you can click the game window and once back in game press ALT ENTER

Do you have 2 GPUs?
