Finding Side Missions?

First play through, chapter 2.

I learned what the stranger missions are and have run across a few. I’m almost done the Gunslingers side mission. These seem to place an obvious question mark on my map and radar showing where the stranger mission givers are.

But there are other side missions. I walked into the Sherif’s at Valentine and got one. But I don’t think there was any indication on my my map that the Sherif would give a side mission.

So. . . To get the side missions you basically just have to interact with the world and see what comes up? Or are there markers on my map I could follow for the side missions?

Just free-roam; go hunting and making money. Random stuff will happen, but not alot of things generally happen in a short amount of time.

It also helps to refresh the game world; which you can do by saving your game and then go back and reload the saved game you just saved. This helps refresh the "cache" of the game world so to speak and it can help force things to possibly happen. Like maybe the higher likelihood of having a legendary animal spawn-in; a random event that requires your assistance (should you choose to help); etc.
