Took me about 50 hours, but it was time well spent.
Manually save often (esc/story/save - long press esc to get back).
Manually save before Story Missions - there's no saving in the missions, but you do have a checkpoint system (L).
Autosave is NOT your friend.
The controls are what they are. There are no shortcuts to muscle memory.
If you can't take it - play something else.
If you like the game - do the work.
It's worth it in the end (to me anyway).
The save system is what it is as well.
Deal with it - or don't.
Totally up to you.
This game simply isn't like other games - it's 1000 times better.
Do the work.
You're not fooling anyone - you love this game - and you mastered the controls some time ago, just like I did.
:D
50 hrs to rebind and master their use? im sure you can finish the entire story in 50 hrs. im not sure what you mean by this... lol
You might be able to finish Story Missions and watch the credits in 50 hours. Maybe.
You'll miss 90% of the game.
If all you want is Story Missions - refund the game and watch it on Youtube. You won't even need to play it or learn the controls.
Note:
I doubt you can even watch the game on YouTube in 50 hours considering the million hours I've watched YouTube discovering how to play it.
Don’t worry if you’re not used to aiming with dual joysticks, controller users get an aim-assist which is basically auto-aim. XD
(Upon aiming you immediately lock-on to a target’s centre of mass, just tilt the joystick up a little for a head shot.)
I also found the keyboard controls very clunky. Switching to a PS5 controller made the game a lot more enjoyable for me. :)
I did. <bows repeatedly>
You are welcome. <bows some more> ...so very welcome.
Love your rant, and completely agree.
I figure it was some sort of drunken troll, or completely stoned dev....
... it had to be someone with incredibly slow reflexes, cuz it's simply stupid.
My advice is - be patient, game is worth it. And yes, you will die many times because of those controls. They just suck. Both on keyboard and gamepad. UX guy got stoned. Sorry.
Another time I was on the horse and meant to “greet” another rider. Instead I accidentally jumped onto his horse and knocked him to the ground. It’s chaos. It’ll get better, but it’s . . . different.
Game is lots of fun still, though.
Rebinding keys that make more sense to you will really help.
The earlier you start the sooner you'll get used to them.
I never could get used to WSAD - I play on the Arrows and Numberpad side.
I rebound the keys I used most as I found them - now it's automatic, fast and efficient.
It takes a while.
Believe it or not, some people can't use a controller - and some don't want to even if they could.
Didn't need luck. Some time was all I needed.
You didn't even try - your controller with a built in Aim-Bot was as far as you got.
If you can't use a controller - you care.
You can - and use that Aimbot with every kill.
Otherwise you couldn't hit a barn - even if it was standing still.
It is a bad player that blames their game -- Apologies to George Herbert
