you dont know what rpg means, do you?
they really should remaster fallout new vegas
RPG is not just having 'varied menu options' and mechanics, it's much more than that. It's not just - any more - the old (and good) game of 'cards'.
yeah, agree, with elements ll be better* i drop the main story cuz this. I only play now online.
You looks mad...sand...and angry, are you ok?
Dear 'reedit warrior', i have zero patience...bye, litle troll...worst, you have ZERO idea about RPGs...
Things I can't do until the story missions decide I should be allowed to
1. Brush my horse
2. Sell my horse
3. Fish
4. Hunt
5. Use throwing knives
That's just what I found till I got sick of the game and quit.
Imagine if you played skyrim and the game was like "oh hey you can't buy a horse till you do the story mission about horses, oh hey you can't craft stuff till you do the mission on crafting, oh hey you can't use that weapon till you do the story mission on weapons"
Like dude piss off and let me play the damn game already. I don't need a mission to explain to me how selling horses works. I don't need a mission to explain to me how fishing works. I don't need a mission to explain to me that I have throwing knives. Just let me figure it out I don't need to be spoon fed basic information and basic ♥♥♥♥ like cleaning my horse I should just be able to do.
Realistic? You're telling me Arthur Morgan is in his 30's at least and he can't fish, hunt, or brush a horse without instruction?
Even the first bounty hunter mission is dull as dirt. I find the guy, I can't lasso him, I can't shoot him, walk up and get a quick time even that HAS NO PURPOSE because he falls no matter what you do. Chase him down the road till the game decides I can lasso him. I did not get to make one single decision in that entire mission.
If that's great gameplay to you I dunno what to tell you but I found it dull as dirt and insanely patronizing. The entire point of an open world game is to go out and make your own fun and this game absolutely does its best to get in the way of that at every available opportunity.
This is a game about a gang of outlaws and the mechanics for robbing things are total crap and just outright things you should never bother doing. Think about how dumb that is. Do you know how angry I was when the first thing I tried to do was rob a train and a magic psychic sheriff appeared in a tunnel in the middle of nowhere when I shot the first guard? How about when I figured out the only way to not get a crime reported was to just not be seen by the law ever. Mask doesn't matter, clothing doesn't matter, horse doesn't matter, its just as simple as "did sheriff see me" If that's all it is why even have the mask there if it does nothing?
RDR2 is not an RPG. It's also not "Open World". Free Roam, sure, but not Open World.
It is a ridgidly scripted adventure game. You are not allowed any deviation from the script to solve a mission (not open world) - and there is no true character development, just artificial limitations the devs impose on new game.
A very good Free Roam adventure game, and one of my favorites. But not a real RPG.
All true if you dwell on that.
The rigidly, over-scripted missions are certainly a weakness of the game. Not an "RPG" and not "Open World".
Never mind the horrid horse behavior and poor contextual control design. $20 million games get this right, but Rockstar can't for $400 million ? Simply pathetic.
But, i thoroughly enjoyed most of the game - the story was good, the writing and voice acting only average, Weapon Use and Weapon variety was excellent, NPC variety was good (but their behaviors were poor), and the environment and free roam aspects are simply stunning.
Which brings my overall opinion to a game worth playing.
