How long does the wanted dead or alive last?

Just finished the mission to rescue the guy from jail, and escaped - but moving to the next mission it now says bounty £200 - wanted dead or alive. Does this ever change? How do you pay off that?

You need to travel to some post office and pay the bounty. I thought it would wear of myself, too - but changed my mind after 2 in game weeks. When You pay the bounty it should be immediately gone. Without paying it will never change i guess.

Or just keep that bounty, you rarely need to go to West Elisabeth until epilogue.

Naah be smart like me .. you walk into the sheriffs office and punch them right on the nose and kick them alittle while laying down on the floor .. then surrender & sleep it off

or if you dont like violence .... then just dirty talk to them, then surrender

It wears off after a while - if you stop doing crime.

After the Strawberry Shootout with Michelob Light mine was about $300, but eventually vanished completely. Dunno how long it took. I was trying to generate $250 for 3 days and it wasn't nearly that long before it dropped below $250 spoiling the goal then eventually evaporated completely<---I was no longer on a Crime Spree - so it got better on it's own. Eventually.

If you have the money pay the fine at any Post Office if you'd like to get rid of the bounty and wanted dead or alive. The town may remain in lockdown for a very short time even if you pay the bounty - I really don't recall.

Not sure you can pay off this Bounty.

In Chapter 6, you do get bounties on you that can never be paid off.

You can check at the train station to try and pay it off, but i don't think you can.

Fortunately, it doesn't seem to matter - Bounty Hunters do not seem to appear for bounties you cannot pay off.

2000 hours in 4 playthroughs and have never had any of those.

I just Googled and RDR2 Bounties you can never pay off doesn't exist on the internet.

If you die in story mode it loads your latest save.

During Chapter 6, the entire Northeast Zone gets marked with a "Dead or Alive" bounty
(Based on Red shading in Northeast Zone)

Ok thanks. Yes bounty stays when you die. As I am still in the early stages, I am hoping to pay it off or else get n a fire fight every time I enter a town.

If it's Wanted Dead Or Alive it doesn't go away, not until you enter the epilogue.

So - after this mission you can no longer do 'free roam' without being attacked every time you visit towns.
