How can I cap FPS to 60?

I'm getting 80-90 fps which is awesome but I'm worried about temps, I'd prefer a stable 60 and let my GPU breathe a bit. The in-game refresh rate setting is set to 165 as that's what my monitor has, and the v-sync is turned on, but I'm pretty sure the FPS is still going over 60. I was thinking about using nvidia control panel to lock frame rate but I've seen some people say it causes issues with RDR2.

Vsync On will lock the frame rate to 60 FPS - you might get some dither around 60, but it should remain close.

Graphics temps can get very high, but that is normally expected and allowed - anything up to 85 degC (185 degF) is perfectly "normal" - it's not considered too hot until in excess of 100 degC (210 degF)

Yes - usually any options of other games let You choose 60, some more, and Your screen refresh rate. This game - not so much. To know if the fps are still over 60 - there are tools - and i guess via steam overlay You can show the fps as well, for testing purposes - after which You can turn it off again.

He said the same with Nvidia Control Center, which i would personally prefer to using VSync, which usually costs some fps. If it causes problems, You can always turn it off again - and know the cause of the issue. But i wouldn´t say anything about what would be logical anymore if it´s about Nvidia in combination with Rockstar. Could also be the case that it causes issues, because there´s some hidden hardcoded bug, Rockstar don´t want to fix, because they have better things to do than spending time on a dead game...
